I got to thinking about Eddie Money's Don't Say No Tonight and I have to say I think it may very well be the best melodic rock driven thumpin anthem of the last 20 years, maybe ever! In the right mood, there is really no better song out there, in my opinion.

Survivor's guitarist Frankie Sullivan was the guitarist on the "Ready Eddie" CD that "Don't Say No Tonight" is from. Sullivan also co-wrote the songs on the album, sang backing vocals and co-produced the album. I think Sullivan helped make that one of the best Eddie Money albums in years.
Put Jimi Jamison on lead vocals on "Don't Say No Tonight" and I think it would have fit right in with being a Survivor song.

Sullivan is an asset to any project. Excellent writer and guitar player. Speaking of Sullivan, does Robin McAuley scare the fuck out of anyone else but me?

I just spoke to McAuley last Friday night. I spoke to him once a few years ago, too. He's a very nice guy.

Commercial pop rock IS melodic rock.
Eddie Money is VERY much at the essence of melodic rock. can't Go Back, Nothing To Lose and Ready Eddie (prod. by Frankie Sullivan) are wholey melodic rock.

If Eddie Money is MR, then Justin Bieber is MR. So get moving on reviewing his albums.
Gotthard music in the same category as EM, and JB? I don't think so....![]()

I agree with Sean. While there are a few good Eddie Money tunes, I would not consider him even really all that close to being melodic rock.

Dear me.
May I present the very pure definition of what Melodic Rock is:

Clip labeled as being from 77. This would have had to have been one of Perry's first appearances with the band ever. Would anyone have known who he was? I am thinking this had to have been more like late 78. Just guessing.
