Live simulcast of the Foreigner / Journey show tomorrow.

Postby Andrew » Tue Aug 02, 2011 9:53 pm

Rewind 94.9 Cincinnati will be doing a live simulcast of the Foreigner / Journey show in Cincinnati, OH this Wednesday August 3. I'm told this is a last minute deal as they only secured rights to do just those 2 bands - it does NOT include Night Ranger.

I bet you will be able to stream it... from the radio stations website...

gosh this reminds me of the Journey departure concert from houston Apr 1980 that was on radio... Also about the same time period Foriegner's Head Games tour was simulcasted on the radio too... I like radio doing this...

Do these things usually get top sound quality? If so, that will be the next best thing to being there. I'm pumped and hope I get to hear it! :D

iPhone/iPad users:

Download the "TuneIn Radio". It's free

Then do a search for 94.9 WREW, add it and you'll be able to listen to the show like per say "Pandora" radio.

within the limits of whatever bitrate that radio broadcasts as, yes. It will most likely be a direct from soundboard recording...which can range from pretty good to VERY good depending. Presuming the radio streaming bitrate is halfway decent, it should be a very good sounding show.

Is it asking too much if we call and suggest they do video too?

I doubt their website will support it. Journey fans will likely crash the live stream as is.

This is great - I'll be recording the show - feels like old time huh? I remember recording Journey on KLOS (Los Angeles) for the Frontiers concert in Philidelphia on Cassette...

I remember when they did the Houston concert and had the local area Radio stations broadcasting it the same time MTV was, sort of a pseudo stereo setup where you turned down the television and had the concert audio blaring out of your console stereo player.

What program do you use to record? I'd like to record but I've never recorded anything on my computer before.

I'm using an earlier version of Adobe Audition - called "Cool Edit" - and I'm splitting (and looping) the output from the out of my soundcard back to the Line In of the soundcard. I tested earlier, sounded pretty good from the broadcast.

WTH..web advertisements cut off the beginning of the beginning of the Foreigner set -

The sound quality is 'ok' ...sounds like a rough board mix...

Not feeling it from Foreigner, at all. If they're blowing Journey off the stage, they better do better than this.

Well they sound good performance wise (To my ears), but the audio mix really sounds completely unproduced, flat.

How does this work? Are we hearing it right off of a sound board? I am just clueless about such things! It seems like this is WAY less forgiving than what we'd hear there in the audience I bet! I can remember people complaining about soundboard tapes of JSS singing Journey, but when we were there live watching, we didn't hear it that way at all!!

You are correct that this sound is much less forgiving than being there. Without audience mics you are hearing I'd say the true sound of Foreigner live. That said, Hansen nailed Waiting for a girl like you, IMHO. 8)

he does sound good with the exception of the dead cat strangle scream during that song...
