Hey I won dinner for two at my favorite restaurant!

Postby artist4perry » Sun Aug 07, 2011 4:06 am

I won dinner for two at my favorite restaurant! They have drawing contests at a little Italian restaurant. You can doodle or draw on the paper and win dinner for two. This will have been my third time to win! I just like drawing on the paper on the table. How many restaurants can you do that at? So it looks like we are eating Italian tonight!

Any kind of contests at your local restaurants like that?

I imagine that the few sketch skills I once had could fetch me a fine meal.....maybe once, long ago.
My problem would be I'm at a halt in the last 20 years.
Since Hubby Bub and I shacked up, I have no sketching skills.....it just left me.
Good for you Ginger!, glad you enjoyed something edible from your terrific talent.

We had Mista Salad, and Tutta Mari. Delicious! :D

Sounds right up your alley Duncan! I don't like staying in the lines. Too constricting. Besides you need to think "out of the lines".      :P :P :P

Not at this place, they have all age level winners. Some are pretty good! It is a college town, lots of art majors.

I have 9 dots.

Can you connect them by drawing only 3 lines and not lifting your pen / pencil?

Translation for Americans:

In my country the only "art" competitions we have at restaurants are at takeways and are designed to shut kids up for 15 minutes. Equally, if I went to a restaurant where the the management was biased towards giving artists free food I would think there was something wrong and wouldn't go there. Finally, if I took my wife, partner, lover etc to a restaurant and they spent the evening scribbling on the table cloth, I would think it was time for a divorce or separation.

You think drawing frogs and rabbits in the same picture is thinking outside the lines? You need to understand realty before you go searching outside the lines. Until you do, your work can only be described as competently executed, but ultimately bland.

Frivolous point first. Does typing multiple laughing faces following your comment convince you that what you said is so incisive that all who reading must be convulsed with laughter? I have no idea what the introductory or departing winks are supposed to portray other than perhaps some motor neuron anamomaly.

The real point is this:

Drawing a rabbit, a frog and a toadstool isn't thinking outside the box. If you believe that everything in the world was created by god it is impossible to think outside the box. Think about that.
