Indy show tonight?

Postby conversationpc » Sun Aug 07, 2011 9:54 am

Any of you mobile internet folks at the Indy show tonight? I'm not there technically-speaking but I might be able to hear the show if the wind is blowing right and I step out my front door. :D

We saw the Verizon folks setting up for it when we drove that way earlier this afternoon and I said "I wonder who's playing tonight?"

One of these days conversationpc , you're going to have to get out and just go to the show. You know maybe sit in a seat and listen to the music.

Indy show was great except for in my mind and from where I was Separate Ways started off just not quite right. I'm just an audience person, but having heard this so many times live, something didn't work, maybe AP. IDK! Other than that it was fantastic. I'm still a fan of Night Ranger and love them on this tour. I finally got to see their whole set. Jack Blades thanked Neal Schon for putting them on the tour. Deen and Ross watched a lot of the NR set, but Deen didn't sit in on the drums for Sister Christian. He was gone. DAMN!! Deen and Ross were also watching a bit of Foreigners show. You could see Deen rehearsing on the wall in the wings. He really is a fun guy.

All I know is, it ended up being a great show, the crowd was huge and having fun. If you haven't heard, AP made a run through the audience ala Kelly Hanson, Journey security was on it this time. I'm pretty sure it was well accepted since there were people screaming. There's definitely a competition in this tour and it's all good. It makes all the bands better. Short set list still sucks though!!

...and btw from where I was looking back, it certainly seemed the crowd stayed on their feet during COH and EOTM. Hey, It's Indy!!!!

Really? Interesting. Wonder if Journey will try to work "Juke Box Hero" into their set too!

I am BY NO MEANS, saying you are wrong. You know what you heard! But how is this possible with the canned vocals? I guess this is more of a tech question for the people that know music tech better than I do. However, I am glad that they are taking these measures.

Also, I, like many of us, are totally annoyed with the 14 song sets, ending early. WHY, WHY, WHY can't they add a Deen song or 2. (Either 1 in the middle, or 2 about 1 third & 2 thirds through the show.) It would also give Arnel a breather!

Come to think of it, maybe they don't use canned vocals at all for Faithfully? I never really noticed any voices other than Perry/Arnel. Still I am glad that the sped it up. I hope it sounded better...Now add a song or 2. A faster Faithfully can accommodate this EVEN MORE!

(New single...cough, cough...Anyting Is Possible...cough, cough)

I hope you have a seat under the pavilion for Pittsburgh, it's worth it, the lawn out there sucks. Never loud enough, we stopped buying lawn seats years ago. We've actually got pretty good seats for this show.

So what did everyone think of the show? IMO, Night Ranger carried the day, they sounded great. Foreigner and Journey were both down at least a half step and I couldn't get past it to enjoy the show. Night Ranger was AWESOME but only played Lay It On Me from the new cd which wasn't enough. They also played a DY song and some Eagles crap which the crowd didn't seem to accept well. I'd like to see NR on their own to hear them play a lot more and more of the new cd. They were having a great time on stage with Jack and Kelly sounded great. Well done NR.

Mick Jones, call it a day brother. I couldn't tell if you were alive or dead during the show (same for Friga). I was epecting the ambulance to come in and give him the paddles at any time. Kelly sounded great and was a very good showman. He was a little too much of a drama queen for me but did well, just a half step down. They didn't play anything off of their new CD which was disappointing.

Neal and Ross looked like they were having fun and playing well. Deen was great but didn't sing any lead which was disappointing. The half step down part really did suck. It sucked enough I won't go back. I'll go see Hugo, Jason or Jeremey sing the songs in the original key. Arnel put on a good show and sounded good. Not great but good. He still uses vibrato an most notes which I hate. I guess that's the deal, it was good, not great. With Journey, I'm expecting great, not good. The show left me flat. I sat most of the show drinking a beer. They did play a couple from the new cd including COH. The crowd didn't respond well to either of the new ones. I've came to the conclusing the reason people didn't respond because the songs just aren't that good.

Folks did seem to respond to Lay It On Me from NR but it was a bit hard to tell since people were still coming in.

Call me retarded or whatever, but I just don't get this big issue on a half step down. The band sounded great, it was a live concert. I thought Seperate Ways didn't start out right, but the rest of the concert was great. From my vantage point, people remained standing for the new music. Of course, I'm looking at the positive and you're looking on the negative side. Hope you enjoyed your beer, I know it was expensive!!!

Not at all man, I'm glad you enjoyed the show. When I go I to a show the music is number 1 with me. I don't pay much attention to the lights, effects and so on. The songs just sound flat to me when they're a half step down. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Yes, the beer was expensive but good. :-) The wife thought Foreigner carried the night. She liked Kelly as a front man. I thought NR was the best of the night. They were high energy and were having a good time. Their new guitarst Joel Hoekstra is pretty dang good too.
