15 Song Set List

Postby Saint John » Fri Aug 12, 2011 6:22 am

Here you go, Journey, and play them in this order:

Wheel In The Sky
Any Way You Want It
Never Walk Away
Lights
Be Good To Yourself
Chain Of Love
Open Arms
Ask The Lonely
Only The Young
Faithfully
City Of Hope (I'd rather hear AIP, but they're not gonna drop this one)
Who's Cryin' Now
Stone In Love

Encore:

Don't Stop Believin'
Separate Ways

So, any other suggestions? :)

'Wheel in the Sky' is too long of a song to be the intro, IMHO. It's between 8-9 minutes, I think the audience needs a little warm-up for protracted Neal jam masturbatory sessions.

Chain of Love
Resonate
City of Hope
Never Walk Away
Higher Place
Open Arms
Faithfully
Don't Stop Believin'
Separate Ways
Wheel in the Sky
Ask the Lonely
Who's Cryin' Now
Send Her My Love
I'll Be Alright Without You
Only the Young

Order them however you want.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

I just do not get why they can't throw in a Deen song or 2. There has got to be a reason why he has not sung a single lead vocal this entire tour.

By adding a song or 2 of his, they can add to the setlist, and it does not take ANY TOLL on Arnel's voice.

I'm not sure how healthy Deen's voice is either. He sounded pretty rough the last time I heard him sing.

If i may.....

The setlists I've seen are uninspiring to say the least....always catering to the drunk couple that hasn't heard of journey since 1984...catching that waft of nostalgia mixed with bud light, then off to the family truckster for a quickie in the parking lot, before having to be home to relieve the babysitter.....meanwhile, fans that are aware that there are more than 3 songs per album are left holding our respective genitalia wondering what the fuck we just witnessed.....

I'd drop "Never Walk Away" (I can't stand that song!), and add "Girl Can't Help It". I'd also drop "Only The Young", and replace it with "Keep On Running". :D

In one of the more recent interviews, Deen explained that even though he doesn't mind singing a song or two, he's content playing drums. He also hinted that the band or management thought it didn't make sense to fans to have someone behind a drum kit singing although I'm a bit puzzled at this since I've seemingly always read positive feedback on his performances and honestly am in awe with his voice combined with playing.

What was the last band you've heard of that had any success with a drummer singing lead? I love Deen. But I agree -- he should not be singing lead/ Arnel should sing the songs.

Deen's voice is fine but a shortened set list means he gets no lead vocals at this time. Maybe as the tour goes on he will do some of the songs we love to hear him sing. It's always a treat to long time fans to hear a deep cut like Mother/Father and if they haven't seen the band recently turn to each other and say Who is Singing!! It's the DRUMMER? !! woohoo :D I guess that the folks who pick the setlist have decided to let Arnel be the Star during the Eclipse Tour.

One of the coolest Encores I can think of would be one that would be a total shock. After the fans holler for more for about 3 minutes,
have Smitty get up on the kit and as IBAWY starts up, Steve Perry walks out on stage. Fans start cheering, the band
stops playing, while the fans blow the roof off the place, then the song resumes. A one off deal at a large venue and it would be crazy. :D

If it can only be 15, why not drop Never Walk Away for What I needed? That was one of the best live songs they had last tour, and it's a much better song.
