Ex-Warrant Singer Jani Lane DEAD AT 47

Image

Jani Lane -- former lead singer of the rock band Warrant -- was found dead at a hotel in L.A. Thursday evening ... TMZ has learned.

Lane's body was discovered at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, CA. So far, no official cause of death has been released.

Lane famously penned the band's biggest hit "Cherry Pie" back in 1989 ... before eventually leaving the band to pursue a solo career.

Lane had a history of alcohol-related issues -- he was ordered to serve 120 days in jail after he was arrested for DUI in 2010 ... his second DUI in two years.

Lane was 47.

Didn't do the VIP since it's a HOB show. Didn't quite seem worth it, I know I'm probably going to regret it!!

wow... RIP Jani...

I was never a Warrant fan... but always appreciated Jani's songwriting...

"Uncle Toms Cabin" is a badass song...

This is very sad. I first saw him in 1987 and knew he and Warrant were stars. Loved his voice and songs. I was very saddened to get a text about this tonight.

Terrible!

It's amazing how the people who seem to have it all together are usually the best actors in the room.

When did he seem to have it all together?

It's a sad thing that he has passed, but the last decade or so at least, he really didn't seem to have anything together.

So true Deb. I hated to hear he's dead. He was a great songwriter and musician. I only got to see Warrant once with him a long time ago, but glad I did. They had a heavy and awesome sound live, and he was a great frontman.

Too bad he likely just couldn't get things together. The guy had some talent, but the last 10 years or so have been pretty tough.

That's what I do, with the limitations of living outside the circuit of shows.

I bought D.R.F.S.R and the first Skid Row album with my first paycheck in 1990...good times!!

Very sad to hear this. The only chance I had to see him perform was a few years back, when he was sober and doing a solo show. Outstanding performance, and he looked and sounded great, just like the talent he was. He was super nice after the show and we talked about sobriety, then kept in touch by e-mail a short while afterwards. He'll be missed...

Yep the only time in the last few years it seemed he got things together for a bit was during his stint on Celebrity Fit Club a few years ago. It was sad to see, like someone just mentioned to me on FB, he didn't want to be remembered as just the "Cherry Pie" guy. I remember the interviews and he would seem so bothered by that. The album back then was done and titled Uncle Tom's Cabin, but the powers that be had other plans. It always seemed that followed him. It's bad enough, unfortunately I know, to have one person around to crush you into a million pieces for their own gain, and in the music world having to be surrounded by people like that must be awful. They took so much from him he couldn't get back, it was easy to see that sadness in him. But he had seemed to turn things around during that show and had seemed to be moving on to a better time. Now that talent gone way too young, sad.

That's kinda what I was thinking. He'd had a bad alcohol problem for a while w/multiple arrests. Too bad. :(

She's running her clinic over at Arnelpinedarocks.com with steveo777, RocknRoll and artist4perry. It's a regular gringo convention over there at times.
