Buchholz may be done for the season, Dice-k is done for the season. Lackey, Wake, and Miller can't be trusted....we only have 2 starting pitchers in Lester and Beckett...and all Theo can whip up is Aviles, a utilty player...and an injury-prone Rich Harden....and Miller is stinking up the joint today...and Tito keeps him in the game. I do not get it.....

And I'm hearing the Harden trade may have fell through....there's only 10 more minutes til the trade deadline.....

They got Bedard from the Mariners for Tim Federowicz (C @ AA-Portland). Bedard has already pitched more this year than he has since 2007. The guy is a good pitcher but he's never reached 200 innings as a big league starter and has only started 30+ games once.

It's a horrible trade...He won't be able to handle pitching in Boston. Granted, they gave up nothing to get him...but, he ain't all that. There weren't many decent pitchers available...in which case you bolster your bench - should have gotten Hunter Pence, or Bourn....or better yet, Rasmus....fail.

You couldn't be more correct about Bedard. Dude is soooo not cut out for pitching in Boston, and some close friends of his predicted that he would completely tank his Friday night start (on purpose) in an effort to dissuede any big market teams for wanting to trade for him. Bedard was really a solid pitcher in Baltimore before becoming so injury prone, but my experience with sports are guys who get hurt are always hurt. As for Bourn...they already have the white version of him with Ellsbury.

He shit the bed in the first inning with a hit and 4 walks and 2 earned runs, but settled down nicely the rest of the way (6 Ks/5 IP) and currently in line for the win Still a better option than Wakefield and anyone else they have in the minors.

Looks like Bedard would've been in great shape without the Lowrie error. He did give up 7 hits in 6 innings, which a little too much but no walks so, overall, a decent start.

On the other hand...Lowrie is a terrible fielder and it's outweighing his offense right now. After that great start at the plate, he's been horrible.

6 innings, 1 earned run and 6 K's is a very good start. You do that every start and you probably win 20 games.

I'm not watching the game but it sounded like he was throwing too many pitches for the few number of runs he gave up, which, even though the numbers look good, isn't necessarily as great as it sounds. Sorta the opposite of Beckett's last start where he gave up 5 runs in the first inning but then shut them down the rest of the time he was in the game. His numbers looked bad but, overall, he didn't pitch all that poorly and kept the team in the game.

The more I read feedback from so-called Red Sox fans, the more I come to the conclusion that they are complete fucking morons! I've been a Red Sox fan as long as I've been alive and the only thing I ever wanted in my lifetime was to see the Red Sox win just one World Series. The fact that I saw them win two in three years means I'm at peace for the rest of my life. I think Boston fans are completely fucking clueless about how good they have it. At the end of the day, the Red Sox aren't the favorites to win the World Series and anyone who actually pays attention to baseball should know this. Teams are throwing more left-handed starters against the Sox this year...and while some individual players have done well against lefties, overall the team doesnt fare thee well with them....Crawford and Gonzo looked especially bad today....tito didnt field his best team today. What I've always said is that I just enjoy watching the team play. Of course, I get upset a bit if they're playing crappy ball but, overall, I just enjoy watching the game. The playoffs and the possibility of winning a World Series is a bonus.

Wakefield was never seeing the field during any playoff run and his quest for his 200th victory is one of the more embarrassing stories I've ever seen the media ball washers in Boston ever cover. I get that Wakefield is a good dude and has parlayed a fluke pitch (based on almost no talent) into an unbelievably long MLB career. That said, he's a mediocre pitcher, at best, and has been for his entire career. I could give a fuck about his 200th victory (when did this ever even become a "milestone")! This fucker has been around since the world was flat. If you hang around baseball for parts of three decades, there is a really good chance that you'll win a game or two!

The knuckleball is a fluke pitch, by definition. Given there have been about 5 guys in the history of MLB to throw it with any regularity, I stand by my point that it's a fluke pitch. Wakefield gets a lot of slack in Boston, because people really like him. As I said previously, I could give a fuck if he ever gets 200 wins. It's a complete non-story and a hollow accomplishment. The other thing I don't like about Wakefield is that he has been hell bent on setting the all-time Red Sox record for most victories in the history of the franchise, and he'd pitch another 10 years for free if it meant he could get that record. Again, it's a completely meaningless accomplishment, given that he doesn't rank in the top 100 pitchers that the Red Sox have had, throughout their history.
