I would have to put as my least favorite song Ritual. And it's still a decent song, but it comes after Human Feel which I have come to love, and Ritual just doesn't knock me over following Human Feel. I like TWIMC and then Someone as the ending songs. They're a nice combination to end as they're not too samey. And unlike many on here, I really like Neal's instrumental. I still don"t find any filler on this album, songs that I want to skip.

Don't like it too much but don't particularly hate the thing either. Has some decent cuts but has some real stinkers too. Average overall. :?

While I love Ritual (Cain is just absoutley on fire with that keyboard riff in the chorus), I totally agree on HF. Awesome song, was hoping against hope they'd debut it in Camden. The last 2 minutes of Schon/Castronovo absolutely swaggering is almost my favorite part of the tune. Like the message about disconnecting from the computers and cell phones and Ipads, etc...

Ritual should be included in Night Ranger's setlist, it sounds like a Jack Blades song all the way.

Despite its comercial failure, for me it's a solid album. I have the original CD and a CD-R in my car...and also in Mp3. I listen to it maybe 2 or 3 times a week.

They played five songs in Sao Paulo (COH, EOTM, Resonate, HF and COL) so, when the album was released, I've already knew almost 50% of the album. At that time COH and Resonate were my favorites. Now, I pick Someone as my favorite, but I always skip TWIMC and stop playing after Someone. I think that I will listen this album more than Revelation and the old stuff like Evolution, Departure...

Great:
Someone
Ritual
Resonate
Chain of Love
City of Hope
Anything is Possible

Good:
Edge of the Moment
Tantra
Human Feel
She's a Mystery

Weak:

Certainly very ambitious to have the overall concept based on Buddhist beliefs, since that could be very polarizing.

I can't say the same, even as a Christian.

Just fantastic fantastic stuff.

Right now that song is in my top 3 in the entire cannon.

It's a good song but I feel like it lacks some kinda oomph or power that these types of songs from Journey usually have. But all in all, it's still one of my favorites on the album. But, that minor key outro shift is terrible and overindulgent. A good producer (i.e., a neutral one rather than Schon or Cain) would have nixed that shitty outro: "Hey guys, you've got a great song here... don't ruin it with this minor key wankery."

Can't really remember much. Anyone know if that stream is still running so I can take another listen?

Chain Of Love is pretty huge...that trance-like key thing Cain has snaking through the whole track is damn fine. He really sinewed Neal's Hulking guitars together with some subtle key effects on the album.

Neal was going way out on the limb, doing some guitars never done in Journey before and Cain buttressed the limb.

Sounds like what a Sony A&R hack would say. Many of Journey's best songs (ex. Just the Same Way, I Can See it in Your Eyes) fade out right when Schon's getting started.

Yup, one of my favorite Journey albums of all time. Fuck them commercial sales guys!

With Revelation and even with Eclipse, both projects where supposed to be more like EP releases instead of full albums (as far as new material). The money talked in those two instances but if its on their own dime this time around, who knows what they'll do.

That's probably a tie between Generations or Raised on Radio, IMHO.

In some cases parts of the songs are missing. The only thing that bothers me about Tantra is the line "Tantra watch over me".. Tantra is not an entity and does no watching. Kali might watch over someone, but tantra is a system.. it is Tantra (Sanskrit: तन्त्र , "loom, warp"; hence "principle, system, doctrine", from the two root words tanoti "stretch, extend, expand", and trayati "liberation"), anglicised tantricism or tantrism or tantram, is the name scholars give to an inter-religious spiritual movement that arose in medieval India, expressed in scriptures (called "Tantras"). :!:

The weird thing about ROR is, despite it's low sales numbers, I believe it's the only original Journey album to have five songs make it onto the Hot 100.

I don't think it was an error, but an intentional use of personification. That sort of thing is fairly common.

But in this context personification is totally wrong. That is the point of the system to lose oneself, ego and become enlightened and free from personification. Jon, Jon... tsk tsk
