Arnel's contributions are both very strong.

She's a mystery is a b type version of Patiently, It would be embarrasing to think this to be a very strong contribution.

Oh, but it is, for many of us. Not embarrassed at all. I love the song! :D

The best part of She's a Mystery is when they stop the shitty lyrics and Schon brings a monsterous riff and Arnel let's loose vocally (The best performance I've heard from him). The rest of the song blows ass.

Jack Blades should keep all his kick-ass song writing ideas funneling into more great Night Ranger records. I'm looking forward to the next one. Let Journey go elsewhere for a great songwriter. It's Neil's band, he's got the reigns. If he's not up to the job? Screw him!

I honestly don't think they need any help in the songwriting department whatsoever... but if they did, I know Jim Peterik expressed an interest in writing with Jonathan Cain at one point. Plus, take a listen to "What Kind of Fool" from Pride of Lions' The Destiny Stone - very Frontiers era Journey (Send Her My Love vibe going on there).

I'd like to see JC make it big in Nashville as a writer/producer.
I still think that 'After All These Years' & 'Turn Down the World Tonight' could be big cross-over hits.
Maybe he could also boost his career (& Journey), by doing Trump's 'Celebrity Apprentice'. :?:

WOW....did Neal crawl up your ass again to get better acoustics? Come to think of it, I did notice his tone on Eclipse had a bit of an echoey characteristic to it....that explains it. Douche.

On that sort of note, I'd wish they'd get rid of their current manager and get Herbie back. I imagine that would help.

Live Nation owns the majority, if not all of the venues that Journey plays in. The band doesn't want to be on Azoff's bad side.

There's actually a solution to that. John Baruck is Journey's manager, just under Azoff's umbrella. If Azoff would hire Herbie, Herbie could then be Journey's manager and Azoff would still get the band in his sheds. They just need someone that cares about promotion, advertising, the fans and the fan experience. Herbie (Lora and Cyndy, too) did.

Herbie will never step out of retirement to manage a band again. let alone work *for* Azoff

And, the fact that Neal, Jonathan, and Ross essentially allowed Perry to fire him, Gregg, and Chalfant, well, I just doubt he would care enough about Journey to get involved again...in fact, he would probably laugh at the idea and say it was the funniest joke he ever heard.

How so? Without Perry, (or some other third contributor like Blades) they are lacking big hooky memorably choruses. Once in a while they still hit AOR paydirt, but something's missing. Does anything on Eclipse comes close to Blades co-penned songs like "Remember Me", "Higher Place", "Never Too Late", or "I Got a Reason"? Maybe a few tracks, (see "Someone", "Ritual" and 'Chain of Love"), but overall, I'd say the answer is a resounding big fat NO.

where the band goes from here... keep on playing... but next year make it an eve with journey... as you did in 2002...
no tour packages...more intimate settings... in future... would also love to see an unplugged show done... or maybe something with a symphony like Kansas has done in the past or what STYX did in Cleveland not too long ago..make it a one night event... would love to hear the classics arranged in this format...

and cant wait until Schon's solo stuff comes out... him and smitty together again... will be awesome to hear... and to add... get Rolie again to work on some solo stuff with Schon... would be cool too...

Ditch Arnel, I've tried to like his vocals but they do squat for me. Bring in Kip Winger to help compose and arrange produce and sing lead vocals. 8)
