It looks like this has been in Celine's setlist for awhile now.

She definitely didn't oversing it, that's for sure. A very elegant performance, if anything.

I appreciate when singers pay respect to the original.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

She sounded great but I was a little put off by her diction. Maybe it's the height that causes that, because she looks too white to have that problem. ;)

She's allowed to have an accent. She wasn't hired to sound like someone else.

Eclipse doesn't sound like Steve Perry. Arnel should be allowed his accent then.

I never had a problem with his accent on Eclipse, just him screwing up the lyrics in concert. Apparently, the band may have also as they totally did away with Tantra (supposedly the killer song from that album) after a few of his miscues.

I watched a couple Tantras but I must not have heard what you are talking about.

I made a joke about it before when he he fluffed COL also. Tantra was supposed to be the big secret weapon that was going to bust Eclipse on to the scene but the song might have been too much for AP to handle live on a regular basis. I think after a few mistakes , the band realized that this song might be taking a toll on the guy and reluctantly shelved it.

I'm sure Jon and Steve were satisfied with her effort. 20 million sales of that album her version was on had to earn those two a few pennies in writing royalties.

She enevr sold anywhere near close to 5 million of that album, let alone 20 million! All copies should be withdrawn and Open Arms replaced.

Actually, my numbers are off. DayDream has sold over 25 million copies world wide. The album was certified Diamond in the States. It's the third best selling album by a non Asian artist EVER in Japan.

Actually, Celine's delivery of the song is very close to how SP sang it. I think Steve would be very proud, if he were to hear that.
Mariah's rendition of a few years ago was awful... just awful.

It seems that she is singing it in the original key, too. Once again, this underscores Perry's abilities.
