I saw Arrival in our local Wal-Mart last week. :?

I can get the remastered Journey (Perry-era and beyond) for $5 each at my Walmart.

I did notice it's vanished from YouTube though...sucks.

It's lost to time, as TNC said...much like the Van Hagar catalog...VH will never play that stuff live again.

i think they should rerecord butterly and make it a full length album song.
divide it into 4 parts or so, like "catepillar, chrsyalis, butterfly, and zapped by bug light"

thats what we really need

oh yeah, throw a real creepy song on there about going back in time and and holing your wife when she was an infant...

oh wait, they already did that

I've seen it there often for $5, and grab extra copies when I find them. They make great gifts! Turned some people onto it in Vegas this past weekend, too.

I had thought about picking up an extra copy myself, only because I know how I can lose CDs, but considering I'm saving up for a honeymoon and a new house, I figured I'd be OK with my one copy for now!

Next thing you know they might want to re-record the whole Journey catalog! Then all of a sudden Perry who? Seems like that is what they want.

It will be on their dime if they do it and Sony can one up them on it by doing discounts on the originals every time a re-record album is released. If Journey wants to release an updated re-recorded Frontiers, Sony just needs to release a special edition Frontiers on the same day through iTunes for two dollars less. Which one do you think will sell more?
Journey has proven themselves pretty inept so far when it comes to iTunes and Amazon, where as Sony has the muscle to get their product noticed on the download services (see the 23k sold of Journey's Greatest Hits on Fathers Day).

This didn't need a qualifier. You're pretty much on point even if you stop here.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Ok, now this is an intriguing idea. I'd be ok with this, but take this horrible part of the song out. I've always thought it's what made it a mediocre song:

Oh, I crash... and burn inside my mind
It happens time and time again,
I can't explain the way you make me feel
Oh, I know... I don't have much to give
But what I have I give to you with all the madness left inside of me
With the madness left inside of me... oh

That little meandering blurb kills the momentum and forces me to immediately turn the song off every time I hear it. Lose it.

One man's "meandering blurb" is another man's "great pre-solo bridge". :D

Actually, the words to that are: "But what I have I give to you with all the man that's left inside of me" , "With the man that's left inside of me.....oh"

Doesn't sound meandering with the right lyrics... :D

I always thought it was "All the madness". What you said does make more sense.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

As a touring act Journey is doing great, provided they are paired up with great opener. As far as forging ahead creatively with a new singer, it's a mixed bag. If Journey goes back to the re-record route, history will not be kind to them in the long run. From a outside view, it would appear like the band had their asses handed to them with the dismal sales of Eclipse and retreated back to a safe zone by regurgitating their past works again. It would put further emphasis on Disc 2 of Revelation being the real reason that album sold so well. While that is debatable, that perspective would gain a lot of credibilty if the band went down that road again in order to try and rebound from an original material release that flopped. With the band in its twilight, it would be a shitty way to go out and a very disappointing end to the Pineda era.

I would rather they record another rock album like Eclipse and just do a better job at promotion, not taking anything for granted like what happened this time. As much as I hate to say it, they also need to include one killer old school ballad that can get the album some exposure.

After selling over 30,000 copies of Revelation in the Philippines, Eclipse's lack of a great sing along ballad seems to have totally neutered Arnel's sophomore effort in his homeland and that's a shame.
