Small Works on Paper exhibition for the AAC

Postby artist4perry » Fri Sep 09, 2011 9:17 am

I am just wanting to share a bit of good news with my friends here. It is probably small potatoes to most of you, but a big honor for me.

The following artwork was selected as a purchase award for the Arkansas Arts Council's Small Works on Paper exhibition for the year 2012. They are buying the art and it goes into the Arts council's permanent SWOP collection. This artwork will travel for a year across the state and then become property of the AAC for future SWOP tours.

I will be asked to speak at the reception in January, Rip I am coming your way! LOL in Little Rock.

Out of hundreds of entries 30-40 pieces are selected for the show. Purchase Awards
Up to $2,000 will be available for juror selected awards. Selected
works will become part of the SWOP permanent collection.

They purchase the work for what I asked for it. I don't know right now how it placed. I think they save that for the reception.

Below is the winner.

The title is: When Smelly met Stinky

Six purchase awards were selected. I don't think they have a first, second, third, etc. You were just one of the 6 selected to be purchased for the permanent collection.

Congrats Ginger! That's one of my favorite works of yours. :D
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Thank you. I just want to say that it is really hard to put your work out there. There are so many great artists out there right now it is quite humbling to see the competition.

This is the third thing I have entered. The first was chosen for the exhibition which is an honor in itself, and traveled but did not win an an award.

The second I tried a site with a contest, and well, it did not get chosen, but I did not feel bad because a lot of great stuff, things I would think kicked my butt, did not get chosen.

The third this one. Now I am going to try one next month with a large one. Keeping my fingers crossed this means good things. :D

There were only 6 purchase awards, don't think I said that.
