Absolutely, and she probably should. She has some explaining to do about that. I'd like to know when she said that, though. If it was at the end of a 30 hour interrogation I'm going to have to give her a pass.
Man, did the sentiment ever change in this case. That town wanted her to die when the prosecution laid out the case and got the conviction, but after today's verdict the people outside of the court, mainly residents of the town, were all cheering for her. When the judge (rightfully) dismissed the (fake) DNA evidence, it left the prosecution's case with not one piece of physical evidence tying her/them to the crime.

I am obsessed by Amanda Knox. Something about her drives me wild. She has some mysteriousness and deep passion about her. Look at her pics and you can see through her eyes....they just draw me in like a steel to magnet.
To be completely honest, I am surprised how this court in Perugia, Italy, can reverse a former decision so drastically, but who cares? Knox is an American and to Hell with the the Euros.
I am glad she is flying out of that shithole tomorrow to come back and be in America.
Let the interviews begin.
PS- does any other guys here think she is hot, or is it just me?

Hey Mr. Scotland Yard, do you know if Amanda did it? How so? As Dan so eloquently stated it, there isn't a miniscule shred of evidence. Gimme a break. The "staged burglary?" How about the 4 other guys those smart Italians arrested, and held, and said, "oops" our bad, you can go?
It's all academic now, as Knox is in the air en route to Seattle. The prosecution can appeal, but she doesn't have to return UNLESS, the US honours a treaty with Italy regarding extradition, and then maybe, just maybe, she could then be fucked. And if those pizza mowin' sonsofbitches convict her again, then I fully support the President dropping a bomb over that toilet.

PS: Good to see you back posting, Dean. Hope things are well.

The way I understand it is this. They were petitioning for new trials due to DNA findings. (There was evidence at the crime scene that could not be identified. Thereby suggesting reasonable doubt.) If this were to go to re-trial, it would have been expensive for the State of Arkansas. Then after they, probably, got acquitted, they'd have filed suit for damages, which could have been exponentially expensive for the State of Arkansas. So, in a legal move, the State AttyGen made a deal. He worked with the courts to get a new trial granted (They were opposing/blocking it.), as long as the WM3 would plead guilty. A guilty plea would maintain the State's conviction, and prevent new suits. The Judge would rule on a lower sentencing, so that 'time served' would suffice. And finally, the WM3 would be freed immediately. If they had not agreed to this, then they most likely would be sitting in prison for several more years fighting all the legal bureaucracy.
So, in short, an Alford Plea is just a series of gives & takes to make it all end asap. It's kinda like a truce from both sides...after they're tired of fighting...and then all the legal language is just part of the treaty.
At least, that's the way I understand it.
later~

Hello Mr Holmes, do you know if Amanda didnt do it ?
Deb wrote:Thanks muchly! I started watching the program half way through when they were more discussing adapting back to real life, so I'm pretty sure they had already discussed this Alford plea thing.
Saint John wrote:Dean, the judge threw out ALL of the DNA evidence and the appeals jury was instructed to negate it from their deliberations. This left the prosecution with a glaring problem ... no evidence! The room where the murder and rape was committed was something out of a horror flick, with only Rudy Guede's DNA there ... everywhere, including on and inside the victim, Meredith Kercher. There was also a bloody handprint of his on the wall. Ironically, for 2 drunk and high "thrill killers," Amanda and Raffaelle left no hair, saliva, blood, fingerprints or footprints anywhere in the room where a violent struggle and massacre occured. The sick thing is they believed Rudy Guede and he had his sentence reduced to a mere 16 years. He'll be out in a about a decade.
