Yeah, guess he just couldn't take all the bad press. Too bad he didn't go out with iPhone 5 as a last hoorah.
Oh well...RIP. We all hate that C bastard.

Make no mistake, this is a big day in America. He made a huge difference in the way we live. He touched many lives. He brought a great wealth to this country in both technology and opportunity. He was, is, and will always BE a legend and real proof that it's ok to dream and that dreams really can come true.

And as the song says: Only the good die young.

RIP, Steve Jobs. Job well done!

Someone on Facebook just compared Steve Jobs to Henry Ford. That is a ridiculous stretch. Henry Ford revolutionized transportation as we now know it. I like apple products but in 2011 you can easily live life without any of them.

R.I.P., but lets just not go overboard here.

I'm still a PC user.

IPod's are great. I like my iPad, might even get an iPhone, but try driving to work without Henry Ford's innovations.

Well, just a 'quik thot', define transportation. Don't need 'trains, planes, & automobiles' if we've got computers. I can work from home. I can get products delivered. And I can get get services scheduled, and bills paid.

And maybe IBM, or the PC, should get real credit for that, (maybe even Al Gore for the Internet. Ha!), but Steve Jobs did have something to do with the proliferation of it all. I mean, we don't have to drive to the record store to get music any more...So in a way, he supplanted Henry Ford, no?

As ridiculous as it seems, it's really probably a little closer to home than we realize.

You can't work from home if trucks don't deliver everything in it and you can't go to the grocery store and get something to eat if there is no food brought there. You can live without anything Steve Jobs ever did. Period.

The Japanese deliver cars too and I wish they didn't, but so do the Krauts and the Gooks. India runs most of our tech support for your computer and credit cards. And people wonder why we have a problem with jobs in this country. The Muslims won't buy our Pigs but we buy their oil. Our grandfathers would roll over in their graves.

Well, supplanted was a strong term. No doubt, the world wouldn't operate today without physical transport. WM wouldn't be able to sell us anything without China...an ocean & big boat away. Our farmer's tractors wouldn't be what they are, and getting products through distribution, may not be what they are today without Ford's innovations.

Perhaps, I should have used the term 'superceded' when talking about today's lifestyles.

And maybe Steve Jobs won't be in the history books alongside Henry Ford for the auto industry. But it's not ridculous to think that Steve Jobs won't go down in history as a modern innovator in today's technology, very similar to Henry Ford in that of a hundred years ago.

People lived their lives without cars 200 years ago. They still managed to get things done . They still had food and they still had jobs (no pun intended ) ;) The car came off as luxury and we turned it into necessity ;)
Steve Jobs IS our times Edison and Ford. He is the man of many inventions. A simple thing like the computer mouse is something that changed the technology forever.
He even managed to redsign what was already invented into something that everyone WANTED even if they didnt really need it. (mp3players vs iPod)

I think most of us know about him stealing from his partner Steve Wozniak early in his career but the story about Job's firstborn was a new one for me.

Shows that with every genius, a little bit of the dark side must always come into play. Glad to see that he did the right thing in the end.

I consider myself among the very fortunate having had the opportunity to attend 3 of his keynote addresses at Comdex in Las Vegas back in the 90's. Perhaps the most appealing and likeable thing about his addresses was the fact that he wasn't a polished golden throat wordsmith delivering "How to be successful" quips with each statement being worthy of its own famed quote. He came out in jeans and a polo or turtleneck and started talking like he would if he were talking to you - personally. He'd sit down as much as he'd stand and said things that were relevant, meaningful, and applied to "real life and those who choose to live in it."

To be honest, I "knew OF" him....the guy that was the Head Honcho of Apple; I saw him in a few videos.....
I would've loved to go to one of his Seminars...but, being 3,000 miles away in CT...not gonna happen.

I wish I could've been there...

I saw the quote I posted here on Facebook.....and MY GOD did it resonate with me!

They are words to live by....Thank you so much for that, Steve. \~/
