Holy Crap! It's a secret!! Embarrassed
Sorry, I haven't been here in a long time. I'm hanging out in the J forum protecting my boy Arnel!

Thanks Jim! That actually means a lot coming from you (we have a history).

That was actually our first gig from last year. It's much better these days. That was my first gig ever playing
bass too (I'm more a guitarist). I LOVE the bass. My wife bought me this great McCartney bass last year for
my birthday and it's got the most awesome tone (not the Hofner Violin deal, but the Rick that he used in Wings).
It's in my Av.
I've got a McCartney/Wings tribute band too where I play guitar, mandolin, keyboards (not bass, funnily enough)-
and yet, I play the Macca bass in the Styx band. The Wings deal doesn't sound as much as the real artist as the
Styx deal does. I've always been compared to Dennis DeYoung, which is funny cuz all
the psychos on the Styx board think I hate him. Hardly. I haven't posted Mr. Roboto yet, but it's a fun song to play
and sing. Never liked it, but I hadn't played it till about 9 months ago. It's a fun song to play bass and sing to.

Oops, sorry, I rambled. Thanks again for the kind words.

Check out the wings deal here: http://www.wingsnthings.net
and my normal band here: http://www.TheMachineBand.com
if yer interested.

That was fantastic, Bryan. Great vocals by both of you as lead singers. Tight band. When did you start the Styx band? I just remember the stuff from your own band. Very professionally shot.

You have a great voice. Maybe you can take Gowan's place if he leaves. (Babyblue will be happy about that. LOL)

Great job!!

I've only seen Styx live one time back in '90 or '91 and they had Burtnik there in place of Tommy Shaw.I think Tommy was in Damn Yankees at the time.

Hi Jana-
Thanks! We started that and the Wings deal a year ago.
That video was actually taken a year ago at our first show. The cool thing about the Wings and Styx deal is that it's all live stuff. So in WnT, you actually get to hear my screw up on piano (quite a bit) but we just turn it into comedy. Our shows are really funny shows. I mean 'comedic'. Great personalities in both bands. The Machine deal's more serious but still fun. "Professionally Shot" but at a daytime show in a casino with nobody there. We're used to actually having an audience!

I am one that actually LIKES Gowan in there. I'd rather have Dennis because he's the original guy and a great singer, but I'm not going to whine about it. Gowan's a helluva musician and entertainer and he's worthy of being there. If the band doesn't want Dennis, that's their issue. I've talked to Gowan via email and he's a great guy.

Froy even liked the stuff! He played some of our live stuff on his radio show. So if he likes it, it must be halfway decent as he's a huge Styx fan. hi Froy! ;)

Your voice has gotten even better than when you sang on my last album.

Would you be interested in doing another tune together?

I tried to add "Love is the Ritual" and also "Everything is Cool". The band members are not as familiar with those. They like Styx, but some of them don't know all the tunes. Both of those would be cool to ad. Also, those shows are about 2 hours max, so we want to hit all the hits. I don't think peeps would hang around for a 3-hour Styx show (though I would).

Those are all good songs though.

(EDIT)

Actually AR, we do hit a few. We do Mademoiselle and Sing for the Day and those are FAIRLY rare (though they were both singles at one time). The bass line on Mademoiselle's really cool.

Hey Michael! It's the same voice! haha. Yeah, if I have enough time. I kind of dismantled some of my recording stuff, but I'd give it a go. My voice is usually better in a live setting than a recorded one. I remember when I was doing that track, I'm thinking "Crap, the neighbors can hear me!"

I appreciate everyone's comments. Dang... who da thought?

That's cool! Jeez, these phones have killer video. I've got a Droid and the video sucks. I'm glad they put the middle back in there. They were playing it live without that part for a while. Oops! Ricky misses a note in that section! I saw them a bunch in the 70s/80s and it's funny how they've only recently added this one. Great tune.

Bryan have you heard the clones DDY hired? Obviously not into clones in bands, but I was pretty impressed. (At least it isn't called "Styx")

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfwSaM0U8Qs

Fun show.

Hell the other guy looks like JY.

This one bothers me less than most since it is billed as an "evening of Styx music" and not Styx itself.

You guys are killing me. I keep waiting for you to go "Nah, we're just fuggin with yah, ya suck".

We don't play out as often as I'd like. We're in the midst of possibly losing our keyboard player (work relocation).
It may not happen, but we won't know for a bit. Also, one of our guys has some health issues, so it'll side line us
till about January. We are playing twice next month and then we're off. I've got two other bands to fill the time,
but the Styx one is so much fun too. Hopefully, things'll work out with our keyboard player and the downtime
due to health won't be as long. It's such a fun project, but it's been tough to keep our momentum going.

This guy has an amazing voice and really knows his shit when it comes to vocals. Even shared the same vocal coach as SA and Steven Tyler.

I've had a single lesson with him TNC, but talked to him quite a bit before and after for extended periods. It was a very helpful lesson for sure, but I don't claim he was "my" teacher. He's been one of many teachers over the 30 years I've been doing it. One of the better ones for sure.
"Amazing" nah. Decent. Finicky. Those are more accurate, but thanks. The other guy in the Styx band is a really great singer. Limitless range on that guy.
