Out of 7 seasons, he's had two really good years and one mediocre. The rest? Blah. Not worth a 1st round pick, that's for sure.

Oakland just crippled their team for years to come, and they did so in two ways. First, Carson Palmer isn't all that good. That's not even debatable. Second, being "good" or "great" isn't about stats. It's about making your team better, being a good teammate and coming through when your team needs you. As I see it, Carson Palmer is 0 for 3 in those departments! He was worth a "flyer" if you gave up a 4th or 5th round pick, and the Raiders overpaid to such a degree that I think they'll be the laughing stock of football for this. Especially when Palmer comes in and flounders or performs at a mediocre level ... like he has his entire career.

The Raiders have a nice team, but this was an atrocious move. The proper thing to do would have been to play a better "poker hand" and let a week go by. Carson Palmer would have eventually been traded for 3 footballs, a kicking tee, 2 tackling dummies, a used goal post and 3 Al Davis cock hairs. Certainly not a first rounder and a conditional first rounder. the only way this will even remotely make sense is if they are able to restructure his contract to ... $50 per year! Even then I think they overpaid.

The trade deadline is midnight tonight.

I'm liking this move. The Raiders are 4-2, have KC, and Denver coming up in Oakland. Likely 6-2, they're going to end up w/ 9 or 10 wins with Boller/Campbell. That puts this years draft choice in the high teens, low 20's, which will be lower if Palmer comes in and takes them deep in the playoffs.

Palmer will be motivated by the naysayers and stick it to Mike Brown. Hopefully he'll be more comfortable playing on the west coast as well.

The Raiders have a great ground game, and I think Palmer will do a better job in managing the offense and will be better at making big throws when needed than Campbell.

I see the Raiders winning the west this year and probably making the playoffs next year. Making both 1st round picks coming in the latter part of the round.

The thing that scares me about the trade is the Raiders are already w/o 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks in the '12 draft I think.

If he performs anywhere near well, I'll happily eat crow. But it's long been known that Palmer is one of those guys who puts up numbers on paper, but whose play doesn't pass the eye test (or more importantly, the WINNING test).

They're bringing in a veteran QB to an offense with an already solid running game. They don't need him to come in and be Peyton Manning. He needs to be good and dangerous enough to keep defenses from stacking the line of scrimmage to stop McFadden.

Palmer won't have to deal with the circus that was going on in Cincy either. No Ochocinco or Terrell Owens characters to have to deal with.

Oh I agree, but the dude isn't going to forget all he learned in the last 12 years at USC and in Cincy. I also just read that his old buddy T.J. Houshmanzada was working out with him as well. I had forgot about T.J., I'm surprised he isn't still playing. RWF do the Raiders need any receivers?

They have a lot of receivers. All pretty young but showing talent and playing well, though no proven veterans.

While I applaud the Bengals for making a GREAT deal for their franchise, let's not lose sight of the fact that this has been one of the worse franchises in the NFL for 30 freakin' years and Mike Brown is a jackass! You know your franchise is the bottom of the barrel when the "glory days" involve guys like Ken Anderson and Chris Collinsworth. Beyond James Woods and "The Icky Shuffle", there isn't much memorable about this franchise, AT ALL!

It's definitely a bad trade, but the Raiders have a long history of doing this. Hell, I think next season they pretty much have zero draft picks, because they've traded them all away. It's not like they're a team on the verge of winning a championship, so it really doesn't make any sense to give all these picks away. Given the Raiders history, I'm sure they'll make the playoffs, win one single game, which would then trigger Carson to the Raiders for TWO first round picks, which is fucking ABSURD!

That's the Mike Brown genius I was talking about...he bought Palmer with a single #1 pick 8 years ago and sold him yesterday for 2. Brilliant.

Sorry dude...it still doesn't work. Again, we are talking about one of the absolute WORST franchises in the history of the NFL who is more famous for sucking than for anything else! Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile! If Brown was remotely "brilliant", he wouldn't have drafted Palmer in the first place. Hell, he could have had Troy Polamlu (who was drafted much later in the first round that same year)!

Week 7


San Diego at NY Jets - I don't think the Jets are a very good team but to have any shot at even a Wild Card, they need to string some wins together. The Chargers are notorious underachievers and never know what to do with prosperity (in this case, a 4-1 record). I like the Jets in an upset by 3.

Chicago at Tampa Bay - Two evenly matched teams. Bears by 7.

Washington at Carolina - This one has a Carolina win written all over it, but I just cannot bring myself to pick that awful team. Redskins in a close one by 3.

Atlanta at Detroit - Toughest game of the week for me. Detroit coming off a loss needs to prove that they are for real and aren't going to revert to old habits. I think Atlanta is simply a middle of the road team at this point. Lions bounce back and win by 10.

Seattle at Cleveland - The battle of the 2-3 teams. Neither team is very good. Browns by 2.

Denver at Miami - If Miami is going to win a game, this could be it. Two really bad teams. I think Miami stays in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes and manages to lose another one. Denver by 7.

Houston at Tennessee - Battle for division supremacy (at least at this point). Neither team is an upper echelon team, but it should be a good matchup. Texans by 7.

Kansas City at Oakland - New QB, so all is well in "Commitment to Mediocrity" Land, right? Not so fast. Carson Palmer has never been that good of a QB, and I'm certain he doesn't exactly have this offense down. Chiefs in the upset by 7.

Pittsburgh at Arizona - Steelers are a much better team. Arizona is overmatched in this one. Pittsburgh by 17.

Green Bay at Minnesota - Green Bay continues to roll, while the Vikings continue through their "Brett Douche Favre Memorial Tour". In inexperienced QB against this very experienced Packers team is a recipe for disaster. Packers by 21.

St. Louis at Dallas - St. Louis continues their record for futility and loses 6 straights. Cowgirls by 14.

Indianapolis at New Orleans - Plain and simple...the Colts BLOW! Saints by 17.

Baltimore at Jacksonville - Jack Del Rio takes one more step toward the unemployment line. Ravens by 14.

This is one of the worse weekend of games I can remember in forever. Between Tim TeBLOW looking fucking clueless against a winless Miami team (who is probably the worse team in the NFL), and Carolina vs. Washington, who can't get out of their own way, and then Cleveland vs. Seattle with Pete the Poodle leading his clueless bunch against a bad Girl Scout team. Lucky me, I get to watch the hapless Colts against the Saints tonight. Oye. Bring on Thanksgiving and Detroit against Green Bay!

It's been pretty bad today. I can't even keep my eyes on more than half of the games. Those fans in Denver are as clueless as Tebow is on the field for actually wanting him to quarterback their football team. I have a live stream on all the games and the only ones that's worth watching is Atlanta/Detroit.
