"Anything Is Possible" airplay

Postby jrnyman28 » Thu Oct 20, 2011 11:35 am

I have heard "Anything Is Possible" on radio twice. Not a big deal, you say?

Well, when Higher Place was released the only place I heard it was on the Classic Rock radio station's web site. And it was the neutered radio edit with NO guitar solo.

I only heard. "All The Way" on a syndicated Top 40 Countdown show aired on the AC channel.

I never heard a Generations single on the radio.

Fron Revelation I only heard "After All These Years" on another syndicated radio show airing on an AC station.

But as of now, I have heard "Anything Is Possible" twice, on the actual playlist, on the AC station. And get this: while it is likely a radio edit there were still PLENTY of guitars all through the song and a solo!

So how is it that in 2001 they couldn't get a rock station to play a rock song (even without guitar) #well maybe that's the answer right there# ? Later tshey couldn't get ballads on AC? And now Journey is getting airplay with a guitar-laden rock song on an AC station?

I've heard Where Did I Lose Your Love in a super market more times (once) than I've heard anything off Eclipse in a public setting

Then you must not listen to much KGGO cuz I heard "Higher Place" many times on the radio...even years after Arrival was released. I also heard them play "City of Hope" a few weeks ago. They also played the entire Red 13 CD back when they played the fair when they did the "De-tour", or whatever it was called.

So, I say you are wrong about not getting a 'rock station' to play Journey back in 2001 - at least in Des Moines.

Trust me I was shocked. I went to the store Monday and I'm walking up the isle that has spaghetti sauce and I'm thinking to myself this sounds like Journey and as soon started listening I was like wow it is Journey. I couldn't remember the name of the song until it went to the chorus because well I think the cd sucks balls and I don't listen to it. It was still interesting to hear a deep cut like that in the super market. It's kind of like the time when I was at my old work place and in a span of about 20 mins they played Don't Be Down On Me Baby and Foolish Heart. I was like WTF they never play good music like that. It was the only time I ever heard either song played there.

Playing devil's advocate, I'd have to say that I would truly be impressed if Journey could make it back into the mainstream, top 40 radio rotation like they did in the mid 90's. That, was a very impressive feat! However, it's still nice to hear their new stuff played on terrestrial radio even if it is a station that probably is only played in doctor offices and grocery stores.

AC stations are turning into the "oldies hits" stations for the 40-somethings...I always hear old hits from Journey, Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, Mr. Mister, Rick Springfield, Eddie Money, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, etc mixed in with the Train, Matchbox 20 and Jason Mraz on my local AC station.

Why are we talking about Anything Is Possible?
Shouldn't we be trashing Neal for being with the White House crasher?
After all, he's made the band a laughingstock and ruined its entire legacy in so doing, you know.

Lately, I have heard Foreigner's "When it Comes to Love" playing at various supermarkets.

I've heard When it Comes to love, Where Did I Lose your Love, and After All These Years quite a lot at supermarkets the last few years since those albums were released.

Never heard anything off of Eclipse.

I think I might have heard All The Way once or twice at some point the last ten years. Can't be sure though. I think our classic rock station picked up on Place In Your Heart and Faith in the Heartland for a couple weeks in 05.

I heard Higher Place a few times and I heard Faith In The Heartland once. The only time they actually played Augeri Journey was when they toured around the area like a day or so before the show. Other wise it was the classic lineup or clips of Journey from the Arrival live DVD.

'Anything Is Possible' is going to be the theme song for the new Schon/Salahi reality show.
You'll hear it a lot on Bravo, or VH1-Classic.

Good song!
AIP has that classic Journey sound only the minor chord progression towards the end is probably a little bit hard to digest for some.
