I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Sorry Deb- didn't know it was for Cancer when I posted. I just saw the "Win a call from Steve Perry" deal. Our company blocks Ebay, so I just went by the original post which looked like "Win a Call from Me for $10,200" which seemed ridiculous. No mention of the cause there when I replied.

Speaking of this- great idea: Went grocery shopping yesterday. They had kids there that would scoop out your pumpkin for a donation to fight cancer. That was a pretty original idea. We had them do two or ours while we shopped.
We came out and handed them $10.00 saying "Is this enough of a donation for this?" They said "Oh yeah, most people are giving us a dollar". We gave them $20.00 more dollars. Really? A dollar?!!!

That's my bad for not mentioning the fact that the whole thing is for charity. I apologize for that. And you're right... taken at face value, my post makes it seem like SP is whoring out his celebrity to make some extra bucks and that clearly isn't the case.

I'll reserve my thoughts and comments about people who are willing to pay that kind of money just to speak to SP on the phone. Don't get me wrong, It's admirable that the people who are "in it to win it - no matter how much" are really stepping up by supporting this very worthy cause. I wonder if they will be making that same donation if they aren't the winning bidder.
To each their own...

Regarding the pumpkin scraping and gutting.... What a great idea! I'd GLADLY pay $10.00 to have it done. Maybe it's just me but the guts of a pumpkin irritate my arms and hands really bad. Every Halloween I come away with a rash that burns like crazy all over my forearms and hands after cleaning out the pumpkins with the kids.

It's okay man. I should know to THINK real hard before I respond do posts as I tend to have a track record here. I don't mean to, it's just the magic and majesty that is Brywool I guess. I'm going to capture the fragrance and market it. I still want Dan to win that. Oh... man.

yeah, the pumpkin thing was totally new and it was such a good idea. We had em throw the guts in a bag so we could cook the seeds, and they separated them and everything. They were nice guys (maybe 15 year olds) and when they said peeps only gave them $1.00.... I mean, these were large pumpkins. People just figured it was "a bargain" and missed the reason behind it.

LOL, no biggie Bry, somebody's gotta smack ya around a bit and this week I guess it's me.

And that's a helluva good idea from those kids. I hate cleaning out the pumpkins, so much so, that I quit doing them a few years ago. I would gladly donate for that. A dollar? Shame on them!

Had I known it was for charity, I'd not've made the comment. YEAH totally great and original idea. I think I liked that part of it as much as what it was going to.

This reply will surely derail this topic and take the discussion severely off-track but.....

Speaking of good ideas, a couple of years ago, my daughters wanted to make some extra $$ for the Holidays and since neither of them have ever babysat.... babysitted?....... babysat...... nor would they even entertain the vile and despicable notion of hiring themselves out for house cleaning and the like   they went around to all the community mailboxes in the surrounding neighborhoods and posted flyers offering their services to wrap people's Christmas presents for the ridiculously low price of $1.00 for large, .75 for medium and small ones. I thought they were crazy and they should charge a bit more. Within 2 days of posting the flyers, they had over 50 calls from people wanting to hire them. As it turns out, they actually had a pretty good situation: no overhead, no inventory and no supplies. Pure profit. AND..... not only did they cleanup with the money they earned, damn near every single person who hired them tipped them to boot! All tolled they made over $650 in about 10 days! Not bad!
Now..... I realize this wasn't being done for charity.... well, sorta (they are very involved in their church youth group and each of them were so excited that they could personally sponsor a needy family's Christmas dinner) but the rest went into their respective bank accounts.

Not sure why but they didn't do it the following year even though they bragged about how well they had done for months after that first time.
