There were two spots where Arnel was singing (improv'ing) and his mic was off. The sound guy definitely missed those. From where I was seated (about 12 rows back) the sound was pretty good actually. Arnel sounded great. But concert sound can be like that- good in one area, not so good in another.

Knight Rangers- sorry, but that right there is funny.

Regarding Deen's solo, it was cool the way he used parts of Steve Smith's "Captured" solo. Nice tip of the hat... I wonder if he'll get the "Oh, he's just trying to sound like Steve" comments...

Damn time flies,my last post here was over 8 years ago!

I thought the concert was excellent and that all 3 bands were awesome!My wife also had problems hearing Arnel and complained that the guitars were drowning him out but I thought everything was fine and had no complaints.In fact Arnel sounded awesome and Neal Schon was on fire!I loved all the extra guitar playing and the setlist was good too and was suprised they played "Resonate" which made my night!

All in all the wife and I had a great night and it was so cool to see after the concert over a hundred fans singing "don't stop believing" under the streetlights!

The only time I had trouble hearing Arnel was in the verses of Resonate. Those verses are really low vocally. He sang it fine, but he could've been brought up in the mix on the verses. Everything else sounded fine to me, but it does depend on where you're sitting. Neal had one long solo, then did one before Wheel In The Sky that wasn't as long- and yeah, the harmonica deal was there. I think that harmonica deal was okay, but they should've added a bit of dirt to the harmonica mic to give it more of a growl.

The new sound guy is awful. State-of-the-art my ass. Elson had his off-nights, but nothing like this. To Arnel's credit, his powerful voice manages to soar over the muddy compressed mix. Neal is making a fool of himself, playing sweeping solos that nobody can even hear.

You might not know your TV shows or baseball, but you're spot on with
the sound ...AP was drowned out most of the show I attended~ MOST!!
And everything I did hear was a horrible mess of mixed~up sound!!
'sup with that?!? I am very sorry to hear that they did not correct
this for their final big show ...sad ...mad ...
totally pissed off !!

In re: to the sound guy, the band was not oblivious to
the sound and even if they were deaf, they've read
somewhere that fans were complaining about
the sound.

Check the photo above of Knight Rangers (sorry, that's funny to me). That's where I was at. AP was down in the mix ONLY on "Resonate" but those verses are super quiet, so I understand how it could happen. I was actually waiting for the "terrible" sound that I'd heard people lamenting. I've heard bands that sounded way worse for sure. From my seat, it was actually pretty good. I thought Foreigner might've been louder, but louder doesn't equal better to me, but all three bands sounded good. I also didn't see "people bailing for the exits" as I had read previously. I took a photo of the arena during the last song and I didn't see any empty seats (it was a sellout I believe).

two peeps from the same family heard it differently and I'm willing to bet
they sat next to one another ...I'm sure your hearing is very in tune w/the music, as is mine.

Down on the floor the other night, I saw one couple leave. They were Night Ranger Fans and they left during Foreinger I think. Everybody else seemed to have a good show experience. I was glad as this couple were the only people in the arena that were 8 feet tall and they were right in front of us. Seriously, the guy and girl had to be 6'5".

I was out and up at the Hollywood bowl. The sound, while not as stellar as 2008 wasn't that bad from where I was seated. I didn't see anyone leave and for the most part, everyone stayed on their feet.

Actually Deb, the only time I sat was during Jon's keyboard solo. This includes Night Ranger, and what part of Foreigner I saw- I was busy during the first part of their set.

Totally agree. Arnel did a super awesome job that night and with that I gave him the props. BTW, the woman I seated beside with commented that she and her husband wouldn't mind paying extra dough to see them infront had it been Steve Perry singing even though she'll be so disgusted looking at Neal's wide nostrils. I would have said something to Arnel's defense but didn't mind because of her comment about Neal's nostrils, which I think is true. From my viewpoint you can see China from there.

I was seated in 201 aisle 26 and it's up right up there in the nose bleed section.
