Awesome Droid App To Find Your Lost/Silent Phone!

Postby JRNYMAN » Tue Oct 25, 2011 2:10 pm

If you're anything like me, you tend to misplace your phone when your ringer is set to "Silent" rendering it pointless to call your phone.
There's a completely FREE app titled, appropriately enough, Where's My Droid?
Here's the nutshell version:
You install the app and leave it running all the time (literally sips the battery). Then, if, or in my case "when" you lose your phone, you send a text to it with a preset phrase which, when received by the phone, will turn the volume all the way up, and start ringing it continuously for the amount of time you preset.

But wait, there's more!

What if it's lost or stolen? You send a text with a different preset phrase and it instantly replies back with its GPS coordinates and updates immediately if its location changes!

The Pro version has many more features which are pretty damn cool, i.e., if it is stolen and you are sure you can't retrieve it, you can remotely wipe your SD card, and if all hope is lost, you can as an end-all solution, send it a death text msg. which instantly bricks it permanently!

There's a bunch more stuff but these are the highlights. For me, this app is priceless! Both my daughters just got new phones totaling over $900.00! Yes, we have the replacement insurance on the phones but the replacement unit is still $150.00 each if it's lost, stolen, damaged, etc.

Anyway, I thought this was a prittttty killer app and the fact that's it's free is pretty sweet too!
FREE is my second-favorite 4-letter word that starts with "F".

It is wondermous!!

I'm pretty aware and methodical w/key
and phone placement, so I don't use it often.
However; my family knows my attention words and
they will use them to get my attention and/or
find out where I am ...they do work, I've got to reset those!!

I do not understand the SMS stuff, nor have I had the opportunity
to read about it, but I am thinking of going pro for clearing all of my
personal inf.

See, that's just messed up right there!

And re: the pro version.... that's the awesome thing about the whole "app" thing. The pro version is only 4 bucks and could at some point be the difference between having your ID and lots of other personal info stolen or at your own hands if necessary, simply etheral-ly vaporized.

Note to self.... Dan is adamantly pro-Apple products. Any similar devices which are not made by Apple Computer are crap. :P

I'm still waiting for the app that opens your car locks. My Durango key busted and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay 250.00 for a replacement key!

Onstar works for me ...I know it's an option for GM
products, but I'm certain you can purchase Onstar
FMV and the monthly service for all/any vehicle!!
