That notion would be refreshing ... if it were true. But he, by all accounts, bamboozled a paycheck out of the guys for 10 years, throwing ethics and the notion that the "divorce was final" right out the window. I'd say that because he drew a paycheck that he was "involved in" things post-1996. The guy just can't seen to ever utter the complete truth. The irony is that made him a full partner in Tapegate, though. So everyone needs to remember to blast him, too, when this topic arises.
And I know you're referring specifically to the post-96 music, but it's worth mentioning that his backstabbing acts like firing Valory, Smith and Herbie, touring without Journey (yet singing their songs, thus "cracking the stone"), and breaking up a viable lineup (Chalfant and Rolie) didn't stop in 1996. The guy is a first class jackoff. It's really not even debatable. He's devoid of any class and the number of band friends he maintains from his Journey days seems to reflect as much.

My interview would have lasted 5 min. Question 1 why is he the only guy on the planet who say's no to singing with JRNY
Why are there no videos from his era with JRNY when the vault has 200 concerts in it.
Why does he always say he's going to record a new cd when that is an absolute lie.
Well Steve your answers please

Calculate future royalty/licensing earnings on the value of the catalog of that moment (at that time, probably only 20% of what its worth now) and payout a one time lump sum to Perry.

I believe it applies to all. Why would anyone do anything for a career if it wasn't self-serving? It's not like they are handing out lunches to poor kids.
Jeremey wrote:LOL to all the Perry bashing nonsense. He, Smith, and Cain know exactly what they are doing, and they are managing their careers as they see fit, based on the present circumstances. For whatever arguments those want to make about him "owing" people to continue making music - his voice and his head are his own business, and if people didn't ask him about it he wouldn't have to respond - He's been 100% consistant in being the curator of one of the greatest musical legacies of pop music in the past 40 years.

Looking at that 10k bid, does not seem “his memory fading into the sunset” is pending. Self-serving Perry? Maybe you should read those ticket master reviews and direct your concerns elsewhere - "Favorite moment: When Neal Schon stopped playing” and it goes on and on. But surely it could not have been a “15 minute solo” for every song?? Now, that “reeks of a guy with some major misfiring going on between his ears.”Memorex wrote: Steve is obviously not going to get involved in post-96 stuffSaint John wrote:That notion would be refreshing ... if it were true. Name one successful Journey album that does not bear the name of Steve Perry. He has a right to be paid; after-all, they’ve been playing the DD he helped create for what - 30 years. And, judging by the recent colossal flop (Eclipse), that playing has and will go “on and on.” That sole “COH” was hanging in there by a thread. Is Tapegate what that “class-act” other Steve was party to in misleading the fans? Why blast Perry when one of real culprits is called a “class act?” Don’t saddle SP with the band’s deceit.Saint John wrote:And I know you're referring specifically to the post-96 music, but it's worth mentioning that his backstabbing acts like firing Valory, Smith and Herbie, touring without Journey (yet singing their songs, thus "cracking the stone"), and breaking up a viable lineup (Chalfant and Rolie) didn't stop in 1996. It is also “worth mentioning” that Neal and Jon were there and agreed to all. They suited up and went on ROR tour, as happy as two larks. Neal’s band? And, Perry toured but not under the name “Journey” as he had asked the band, and he was entitled to that request.
As far as class goes - Steve Perry is the guy that withheld his signature from Sopranos until he was assured of no bloodshed for the song. Just think Sopranos is what started it all for DSB, yet Perry was willing to forego that. I believe Frank and Jesse had already signed, for it appears the James brothers were not concerned about a shootout.
By the way, what is it that is charming or endearing about any of the guys from Journey, including Pineda, that would make Perry want to hang with them? Now, that is very “debatable?” I appreciate Perry’s respect for his art and the artist (no lipping or mocking), something lacking with the others.
Forgive my interference, but in perusing the board from time to time I often tire of your yaking…

No, I didn't mean to imply that they were the same, but just that they were similar.

We'll agree to disagree on this one. I'll use my wife as an example. She's an RN with a BSN and an MBA. She became a nurse because she loves to help people. She has stated numerous times (and I believe her completely) that if we won a sizable lottery tomorrow, she'd still work at least a couple of days a week because she honestly enjoys doing what she does - which is the epitome of working to serve others. This is just one example but there are several professions which are entered into for reasons other than serving the individual who chooses to do it for a living.
I get the point you're making, I really do and that's because you qualified it. Slucero on the other hand, used it as a blanket statement to describe what he believes to be true that the guys are self-serving in every sense of the phrase and care about no-one other than themselves and their own financial gain regardless of anything else and that simply is not the case.
