Casting Crowns debut at #1

They’ve got God on their side.
Sony Music-distributed Provident Christian rockers Casting Crowns, the veteran Grammy and Dove award-winning band, debut at #1 this week with 112k, enough to turn back XL/Columbia phenom Adele’s 21, which soars above 4 million with another 106k in sales in its 35th week on the chart, only one spent below #3.

Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope Idol winner Scotty McCreery remains solid at #3 with another 55k to its three week total of 340k.

Last week’s chart-topper, Wind-up’s Evanescence (#4) and Columbia’s Tony Bennett (#5) round out the Top 5, the latter giving Doug Morris’ SME three of the Top Five, and Stringer/Barnett’s Team Columbia two of them.

Christianity aside, a lot of those modern Christian pop/rock type bands play some killer music...Casting Crowns included.

This is true, Pelata! A lot of it has very catchy melodies and hooks. I must say, even though they are considered "retired" now, I'm stuff a huge Petra fan.

This is a pretty good cd. The mellowest that Casting Crowns has released. I could use a few more uptempo tunes on it. This is my favorite so far.

Leave it all behind
Leave it all behind
Leave it all behind
Leave it all behind

I have what you need,
But you keep on searchin'
I've done all the work,
But you keep on workin
When you're runnin on empty
And you can't find the remedy
Just come to the well

You can spend your whole life
Chasing what's missing,
But that empty inside
It just ain't gonna listen
When nothing can satisfy
And the world leaves you high and dry
Just come to the well

And all who thirst will thirst no more
And all who search will find what their souls long for
The world will try, but it can never fill
So leave it all behind, and come to the well

So bring me your heart
No matter how broken
Just come as you are
When your last prayer is spoken
Just rest in my arms a while
You'll feel the change my child
When you come to the well

And all who thirst will thirst no more
And all who search will find what their souls long for
The world will try, but it can never fill
So leave it all behind, and come to the well

Yeah...
Leave it all behind

The world will try, but it can never fill
Leave it all behind

And now that you're full
Of love beyond measure
Your joy's gonna flow
Like a stream in the desert
Soon all the world will see
That living water is found in me
'Cause you came to the well

And all who thirst will thirst no more
And all who search will find what their souls long for
The world will try, but it can never fill
So leave it all behind, and come to the well
Leave it all behind, and come to the well

Petra was awesome, especially from "This Means War!" through "Wake-Up Call" and, to some extent "No Doubt".

Third Day is another good one. Awesome live show. Reminds me of a rock version of Alabama.

If you are in mood for prog/christian rock, try some Neal Morse. Testimony II is awesome.

Hope it wasn't me! I deleted my avatar and it seems to work just fine now. That's crazy...my avatar was only 100 by 100! :?
