SunshineTwilight wrote:I think they all did a great job considering this was their very first LIVE show EVER, and that the guys only had just 2 days together to rehearse as a band and that none of them except for Jeff have sang any of these songs since the album was recorded over 2 years ago! I do agree that Jeff's vocals could have been up a little higher in the mix though. All in all a very successful first performance!!

(This song was of the goose-bump variety live, btw)

Backing vocals sound terrible and the guitarist punted on playing the awesome outro solo in its entirety. JSS sounded good, but the song didn't work live. I'm not surprised. Songs with this structure never seem to come off as well live. A Journey analogy would be Higher Place.

Matt, Boston are considered legendary AOR/classic rock band and didn't get their backing vocals right until the "Walk On" tour when they had Fran Cosmo to help replicate the double tracked vocals on the albums. From 1976 until the 1990's they sucked live.
W.E.T. at least has backing vocals here. Boston never really did early on.
What annoys me is the way the drums sound. With you on the guitarist not playing the outro.
Overall, pretty decent replication of a tough song for their first show, and Soto sounds great.

When that killer drum intro began, Deb and I started screaming like crazy women ... NEVER thought I'd get to hear it live ...

Lucky you. I was stunned when I saw the song title. Deen on drums would have been the icing on the cake. Any other Arrival songs played?

yea....fast food chicken in the US. The majority of their advertisements in the past few years have been done through the use of cows suggesting you eat chicken instead of them. Didn't know they hadn't made it up to where you are. They are all over the place out here.

Fantastic.

That's very cool.
Of course someone will lose the fact that this is something you won't often get to hear live often if at all and complain that they want everything pitch perfect. That's not what rock and roll is all about.
And I think Steve did a great job on this one.
