Dealing with issues? Sick or anything? 'My Everything' was barely watchable. I grimaced more than I did on Augeri's last day with the band when he sang live and when his voice was shredded.

'One Love': He flubs the opening then it seems like his voice gives out at 1:16. JSS is clearly struggling out there. Hope everything's okay with his voice.

Damn. Saw some other vids and thought they sounded a little off. But some of these, as Trav said, hearken back to 2005 just before Tapegate. Jeff VISIBLY struggled in One Love.

I think the WET material might honestly be pushing him a little too hard. A lot of it is at the very top end of his voice.

While he may have been having a slightly off-night, I think most of what is throwing you guys off is the backing vocals. They just aren't that great and to me they distract me from the lead. I wouldn't fault Jeff much on this.

Nah man, the backing vocals are off. But he definitely sounds strained. Listen again. I know you've got a good ear. WATCH between 1:14 and 1:18 of One Love. He literally strains, grimaces, and pulls back from the mic. He's also screaming/strained on a lot of different parts.

Jeff may have had a bad night....but as a true pro he still had the audience eating it up....he is one of the best front men out there!!!

The backing vocals and the crowd singing are almost completely obscuring JSS on the choruses...can't judge a thing by the initial post video...JSS sounded perfectly fine on the verses...then on the choruses I hear backing vocals, crowd and hardly any JSS at all...

Everyone's going to laugh, since I'm the big Jeff defender   , but I didn't think it sounded that bad. I didn't detect anything wrong. It sounded normal to me.

I got interrupted so I'll have to go back and listen to the rest, but from what I heard, the stuff that was "off" were the backing vocals.

Yeah, the backing vocals and crowd are messing that up. Jeff sounds good as always. And if that was their first live show, you can't expect it to be perfect.

I listened to the original Brothers In Arms vid, then If I Fall and One Love....Sounded to me like Brothers In Arms was the first song of the night (don't know for sure?) but the only issue I'm hearing is that Jeff is having trouble finding the pitch center just because of the choppy rhythm of the verse, and of course, walking out on a stage having never sang the song live before in front of an audience. If I Fall and One Love sounded fine to me, are people really that picky? LOL. I believe Jeff got on a plane from Sweden in the wee hours of the morning of this gig and went out to sing later in what looks to be like a typical outdoor crap environment to sing in. He sounded pretty great to me, LOL. The pitch issues of the BGV are more related to monitoring, which you run into on a typical festival gig.

That being said, I love that JSS is looking like my old idol TTD these days, haha. Looks like it was a great show.

Bingo. I posted the exact same thing in the Firefest thread a few days ago. He sounds great on the verses, but the backing vocals are mixed too high in the chorus for me, can barely hear Jeff's pipes.

If I Fall ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpdsVK7E ... re=related

.....is definitely very cool to see performed live. Love his delivery on that! Especially that first verse! Always performs with such passion on the rockers and soul on the ballads. Regardless, I agree with Joe Vana, one of the best live frontmen out there........he is still one of ONLY two frontmen/vocalists that I will/have put my travel $$ down on to cross the border to see LIVE!

Their first gig. Everyone knew it would have some issues. Personally I would have loved to have been there. Like I said in a previous post Boston SUCKED live in the 70's. Took them years to figure out how to replicate their sound in a live setting. At least WET has backing vocals.

The choruses seem a little too high for him to reach. That's ok. He kills on the mid-range stuff and that's where his voice comfortably sits anyway. It took time for him to get *up there* for Journey's shows. I didn't expect him to kill the WET material out of the gate.

I preferred the 06 look he had with Journey. Fit his overall style/music more.

The one being off key is the bassist, not Jeff. The bassist has more vocal issues on the show. Just check out the WOA clip.

Boy, their sound was incredible when I saw them in 2002 or 2003. One of the best sounding shows I've ever heard. Of course, they had about SIX guitarists onstage.

There's more than 1 person that sounds "off " during the chorus  , it sounds terrible.(and for the best part of the song to be that off just ruins it, they should have just piped in those parts)
