Postby Rockwriter » Wed Nov 23, 2011 7:16 am

Hello:

Sammy had some interesting things to say about the upcoming "new" VH album http://www.examiner.com/classic-hard-ro ... r-material

Thanks, I hope all is well.

If I've never heard it on any VH album before, then to me it's new music.

Hagar seems to have a bit of an obsession with all things Van Halen, doesn't he?

That's okay. He used to be in the band, they all openly talk shit about each other, and the VH brothers gave Mikey the boot because they're a pair of megalomaniacal assholes.

I love Sammy, but he really needs to let it go. He's got a great band that he's in that just released a great 2nd album. He should be talking 'III' up instead of talking about the VH bros. Even if he hates them he should just say "We had a great time back together the first time around and I wish them luck with DLR." Instead he comes off sounding like a sour puss.

He did say stuff like that. Then Mikey got his walking papers and Sammy's middle finger went back up.

He does sound a little spiteful in that quote. I think a part of him is probably pretty jealous and bitter that they're making a new album with Dave, and also about how he and Mike parted ways with the band. It is understandable after all they've been through, and I have no room to talk in this department.

Yeah, I doubt he's "jealous" of a band that can't even average one album per decade anymore!

I love Sammy, but he's coming across as a pretty huge douchebag these days.

Chickenfoot sux. It's not half the super group that Sirkus was. Where are the songs?

Agreed. Just because you have big names on one stage, doesn't guarantee you jack shit. Sirkus had much better music. A lot of that can be attributed to Soto, don't you think? Schon certainly wasn't writing lyrics or choruses.

Hell, as much as I hate Schon, have to give credit where it's due- IMHO, Sirkus can outplay not only Chickenfoot, but maybe VH in it's current state.

Most def. I also think anytime Schon applies himself, its usually a winner (Sirkus, Hardline, Arrival) and when he's MIA, it usually shows (ROR, Generations).

SS better than Chickenfoot? Hell no. Sammy talks about VH because the lame ass media asks him about it. What else can they write about? Drama sells.

I wouldn't push all my chips in without hearing it. IF it ever actually gets released.

Black Country Communion is the best "hard rock supergroup" of the crop. I like Chickenfoot, though. 2nd CD is a bit better than the 1st.
