I believe every word that man just said.

If God EVER existed then we wouldn't be so incredibly confused on the entire nature of religion and by thy name of God or however the Old English language people say to make it seem more important than it really is ever proven to be. I'm certainly not confused about this World's past. I'm not confused on our founding presidents. I'm not confused on our World Wars. I'm not confused of finding fossil's and bone structures in the ground that resembles the yesteryear of the dinosaurs. None of it is confusing because it's all documented and proven in a logical and convincing way.

To me it's this. I've grown up in a place to where even though Religion wasn't forced upon me, I still believed in God because that is the politically correct thing to do as a child. You hear it from everywhere even if it wasn't forced in a family house hold. As my years went on and how incredibly insane and flawed the entire story of God and the Bible is, I've came up with my own conclusion that I don't believe a word of it or the moral's of "life's rules."

In fact, it was NEVER forced upon me until I met my girlfriend who is hardcore Christian. Her family sure does try to coax me into manipulative situations regarding the fact and it's very difficult because I care for her so I attend Church service's to try and be open minded and do it for her. I leave there every time hating it even more. It's just so ridiculous to me in every sense of the word. People falling on the ground saying their healed, saying they just graced the touch of God. It's just all wrong to me.

I feel VERY uncomfortable in a place where it's designed to make you feel good. Praying out loud and yelling out, lifting their hands in the air and fainting. Freaks me out if anything else and the stories being read by the pastor doesn't even make a tad bit of sense and I'm a person who has great comprehension skills.

Religion was set up deep to the point to where there's a perfect fix for everything. Surgeon removed my gall bladder? God sent the doctor. What about the filth in this world? That's the work of the devil. Something tells me there's a hell of a lot more bad and corruption in this world than there are miracles and people living in mansions with great health.

If that's the case, how come God can't over power the Devil, something HE created since he created all things that exist in this universe? This is God's plan, yet, the Devil is the reasoning for bad. Really sucks to know that our own creator of good doesn't even have a handle on things. I still don't get why he made his own off-spring so frail.

Jump off a 5 foot ledge? Busted ankle. We can't even live in the climate within our own body temperatures to survive in the place HE built for us. Jesus? Lets make him walk on water and heal the sick by the slightest of touch! And if Adam and Eve were white, then where the hell did black people come from? Disturbing. I'll believe the theory of the BIG BANG and its big creation over time of matter, atoms, and energy that one day exploded into a big ball of matter that fed off each other which created the uncreatable. Better that than a mystical man in the sky who just happened to create us out of boredom one day and waited centuries to release us and send his son to save us whenever the time was right. The idea of God is just TOO easy in a complicated reasoning. Nothing is that easy and God is just that, easy to believe he just created everything END OF STORY.

Again with the insults!  From you I will take that as a compliment.

No duress. If you do God's will you have nothing to fear. Who goes to hell is up to God. I don't sit and fear hell every day. I know I am not perfect. The bible says for all have sinned and have come short of the glory of God. I make mistakes every day. God knows I am not perfect, but he also knows my heart. He knows my intent.

Love is what we feel for God and worship is an expression of love for God, I don't expect you to understand. You don't want to understand.

You seem to dwell on the concept of hell a great deal.

Why would you seem to fear what does not exist in your mind? :?

By the way both of my children are grown, they are good citizens, and they are kind to people. Yup, warped them to no end.

What insults? Just expressing my opinion, as you are yours.

However, I am struggling to make much sense of what you say. The duress point is blatant and unarguable. You state there is no duress and in the next sentence demonstrate that there is.

I can't see how worship is anything other than an expression of subserviance.

I'll ignore the other bits,

How does questioning religion turn into me being fearful of hell? The only thing I am fearful of is what religion does and the scariest thing is that all religous people think it is all lovely and wonderful, when that could not be further from the truth.

Insulting the relationship of God and his people. Last time I checked calling people lemmings is not a compliment. And I quote. "The relationship of God/Jesus and his flock (flock ffs! the only more insulting term would be lemmings) "

You say you will ignore the other bits, what bits are you referring to?

I cannot help the way you think, but you apparently have no concept of why people worship, or of faith at all. You seem to be the one who is fearful of religion and ask a great deal about hell. Personally I don't sit around and sweat it, nor do I threaten my children or others with it.

If we deem religion wonderful and lovely maybe because it is to us. Maybe your concept that we all sit around terrorizing children with hell and plotting to kill people might not be what it is at all in our life. Maybe you need to understand that religions differ and not all are the same. Maybe it is a beautiful thing you will never know because you have such a set idea of what it is all about.

Equally you cannot see how pernicious it is.
I didn't call people lemmings. However, are you suggesting that religion should have some sort of special privilidge where it should not be questioned and ridiculed?

I don't know how many times I've explained that in the course of this thread.

I know but we try to be patient with you, we know you can't help it.

I think more the degree of arrogance is stinking up the place. Try maybe letting people of differing thoughts have their say without your putting them down? Rude doesn't make right.

Why? If someone is spouting horseshit on any subject on this board it is normal for them to be "called out" as you Americans put it. Why should religion be any different?

Actually, some people teach that christian salvation is a GIFT given by God that we can choose or not choose to accept. Our free will gives us this option to choose - it's what we do with the option that determines our final destination. God wishes that none would perish, and thall all would willingly come to Him, that's why He gave us Jesus to be the intercessor between us. I don't see duress in that at all.

Well, if he wishes none of us would perish why not just do away with hell, have all us non believers sit on the naughty step for a while and then let us in to heaven? That's what a loving father would do. A loving father would never condemn one of his children to hell forever would he?

There must also have been a lot of handicapped people around as a result of all the inbreeding.

Speaking of that, I just saw this guy preach on campus a couple of days ago. It was the highlight of my weekend, and I drove 2.5 hours to meet him.

Please stop. Please.

You can't seriously be this stupid. It's at the least not to be taken literally. The earth isn't 6000 years old and God had nothing to do with its creation. We have a perfectly full understand of how the universe came to be and life evolved.

So at some point God changed the genetic make up of man so that inter-sibling sex would produce retarded children? Don't you think it would have been a better idea if he had made it so that conception wasn't possible? That might have saved some suffering and the southern states of the US would certainly be less populated.

Geez, what kinda church does she go to? I don't do the church thing. My parents/sisters and I are all baptized Catholics, but we never go. I don't think any of us get much out of church.

Just met him this weekend, and also bought one of his books. Very nice guy, and very intelligent and well-known for someone who seems so young. I wonder if he's even in his 30's yet? That video reminds me, he also had some tech problems right before his talk (WiFi wasn't working), and we had to break for lunch early. The whole weekend was phenomenal. And if you haven't watched the short video I posted, definitely check it out. :)

You've totally missed the boat on African Biblical prophecy, man!

I've ordered a couple of his books too.

Who the hell told you that? Did you happen to see any armbands with swastikas inside your girlfriend's church?

Ok, if they were black, where did all the white people come from?

Who said they were?

Adam and Eve had no belly buttons... that is a biological, scientific fact!

There must also have been a lot of handicapped people around as a result of all the inbreeding.

I am going to resist the inference of genealogy.  Happy Thanksgiving Rip!

If God made them, have you ever thought that it would not cause handicaps at the time? It wasn't till later God stopped the family from marrying each other.

Have a great day Duncan! :D

So at some point God changed the genetic make up of man so that inter-sibling sex would produce retarded children? Don't you think it would have been a better idea if he had made it so that conception wasn't possible? That might have saved some suffering and the southern states of the US would certainly be less populated.

I never said that........seriously children are born with special needs and were not inbred at all. And we have no more suffering of that than in Britain.

I thought you said God made man so that siblings could reproduce together without birth defects? There is a very high risk of birth defects if that happens now so God must have changed something, right? What have birth defects in Britain got to do with anything?

I was guessing at best Duncan........ The bible doesn't say.

And I could ask you the same thing on evolution. If they mass produced what would have kept them from being inbred? They had to start off with self insemination if they had no partner and we were formed because one crawled from a primordial ooze. So self sex, then sex with a child, then inbreeding.

What do birth defects have to do with Britain? The same as they would have to do in the south. We don't inbreed here. Those that do are arrested for being pedophiles. Again a week attempt at an insult, insinuating that people where I am from are inbred. stereotyping the South. By the way Duncan, I was born in Los Angeles California.
