Just imagine how good Eclipse could have been?

Ya think so? Doesn't matter anyway..because people would have still bitched that it rocks too hard and doesn't sound like typical Journey.

If Journey had gone away from the signature sound of Perry, then this album would have had a much much better reception from the public. I agree that it would have been awesome to hear JSS on the Eclipse album, I think it would have done nicely sales wise and really given them the chance to spread their wings in a way was more receptive.

JSS would have done well with the material, but the simple problem that there weren't any "radio-friendly" songs on the album would have still doomed the album--and this is coming from someone who actually likes Eclipse. Doesn't mean it's a bad album, but it never had a chance at radio airplay, and you need that to get sales. No singer (even Perry) would have made a major hit with that album the way it was.

I don't know about that. I believe, like Perry, JSS is a stronger personality and would have been all up in it, when it came to the songwriting. So it's hard to say whether the songs (non radio friendly) would have even been the same on Eclipse. Would have been nice to get at least one album out of the Soto fronted Journey, very curious to see what the writing team of Schon/Cain/Soto could have produced.
