I think that's where the correlation of comprehension is lacking in this thread. I'll never question Tebow's personal personality (he's such a Saint and so nice, he has some people convinced that he IS Jesus Christ) but I will always sour on his performance on the FOOTBALL FIELD and that's all it really is about. If I wanted to comment on personality traits and worry about people being bashed for being a do-gooder for helping my poor little old Grandma across the street, I'd watch the Maury show  Off the field actions never was a debate. The negativity comes from simply watching him play the game, nothing more, nothing less. 8)

I wasn't aiming the comment at you per say YoungJRNY...............I was just commenting on the fact that like it or not, the media seems to overlook the sick behaviors of some football players.

I am sorry.......I don't care how good Michael Vick was as a football player.........anyone who gets a kick out of torturing and electrocuting animals is sick. People who do those kinds of things creep me way out.

If you like his game or not that is no- never mind to me.

Oh, I agree on the sick nature of his actions but I don't agree the media overlooks his crimes. In fact, it's still a touchy subject to many. Michael Vick will forever be a sick man from the acts he has committed against K-9's. I have a dog myself and look to him as a family member. My mind simply doesn't go into places of what he did to those poor animals. That said, he did his prison time and has to live the rest of his life for what he has done.

This is true. And I don't think Tebow is the end all of players. There were a lot of nice players in the past. People are not perfect. But I would rather people praise good behavior than bad. Unfortunately kids look up to these guys. I just hope they keep in mind the influence they have on the young.

Case in point.........Girls are striving to be more like Snookie than like respectable women. Our good role models are running piss poor thin. (Think of all the stupid women in video starting fights at MC D's)

We need more positive people in the limelight than the bad. That is what I was saying.

As far as Tebow's playing, I haven't a clue. I quit watching football so much after Joe Montana left the 9r's. Now I keep up with the Razorbacks from time to time. But I am not ever going to wear a stupid hog head or hog nose.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Pig SOOOOOOOOIE! Now there is some funny behavior in the stands.

I agree that little women are probably looking up to the Kardashian's way of living or a Snookie way of living. However, as far as football players, kids aren't aware of the things that happen off the field. When somebody looks up to someone like, say Michael Vick for instance, they don't want to go out and think to be successful they have to follow his way of criminal. No, they watch football games and want to immulate his game winning passing touchdown in the Super Bowl and envision themselves throwing that pass.

Honestly, on that particular play, most of the other QBs in the league would've been driven into the ground without even having a whiff of a chance to get away and get rid of the ball, so that particular criticism really isn't even valid here.

Um, yes it is! Most QB's would have never run 30 yards backwards for that sack to even happen. I would venture to guess that in the long history of the NFL, that particular plays ranks up there as the most yards ever lost by a QB on a sack. Seriously...take the intentional groundiing penalty. It would have lost a whole lot fewer yards!

Nope...The play really made no difference in the outcome of the game anyway, so it's a moot point.

Dopey argument. The play made no difference in the outcome of the game because the Broncos got blown out. It doesn't change the fact that it's a moronic play. There is NEVER a way to justify a QB taking a 30 yard loss on a sack when he could have dumped the ball 30 different times!

Nothing dopey about it at all...He's trying to make a play to keep the drive alive on 4th & 17. Without scoring a TD there or at least getting a 1st down, the game was over. Doing an intentional grounding there would've made NO DIFFERENCE because the Pats would've gotten the ball on downs anyway.

Hey Nora, dont listen to these dip shits who wanna bash Tebow just for being a great person. Its not his fault that the media has a hard on for him. That game means very little to him in the overall scheme of things. He has a much higher calling that he listens to. It chaps my ass that people wanna attack him. Nora, Im priviledged to be the one who brought him to your attention and thank you for acknowledging it. While some of these asshole fans were possibly crying over their spilt beer after their team's loss heres what Tim Tebow was doing:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/9891 ... o-patriots
Ive met Tim on several occassions. My daughters have met him and had pictures taken with him, held numerous conversations. I have seen live and in person how gracious and decent he is. Screw anyone who bashes him just because they dont like his throwing motion.

Are you kidding? I'm done with this Tebow bullcrap, the dude can simply do no wrong regardless if he makes a pathetic play that even resulted into a 30 yard sack because of his stubbornness to stay up. Sometimes, showing how "tough you are" doesn't translate into a positive when the play obviously results into an embarrassing scenario.

And Scarab, again, Tim Tebow can cure world hunger and that would have NO BARRINGS on how he is viewed as an NFL quarterback. It's quite obvious that Tebow is one of a kind when it comes to being a human being, but we're talking straight quarterbacking and that's where all the criticism comes from. He simply will never be a decent passer at this level. Just because he puts on a good press conference, doesn't give him a pass for some of his awful on-field performances in many half's of football games.

First off, I'm not a Tebow fanboy. I like him as a person and feel so-so about him as an NFL QB. He had to have stubbornness to stay up because that play was a 4th down play. The ball goes over on downs regardless of what he does and he really had little shot of doing anything once the defenders were in the backfield.

He simply will never be a decent passer at this level.

I'm skeptical, too, but he has improved with his passing since his first start. If he could even improve to a mere 55-57% completion percentage, he would give the Broncos an excellent shot of winning almost every week.

o yeah, that winning record as a starter, the fact he took a 1 and 5 team to first place in the division once he was named starter really means nothing, as long as your point is taken by someone.

also as far as his passing accuracy I think people forget this is just his 2nd season, first where he was named starter midway thru the year. For crying out loud the guy didnt even get a camp due to the lockout!!!!! If its anyone else we are preached to adhere to patience. With Tim Tebow he shouldve come out of the gate as John Elway or Joe Montana.

I guess it is, CPC. Losing every game you play is OK, as long as the QB looks good and his throwing motion is up to technique.

I'm still not sure about that. I think Tebow actually does have many intangibles that you want a QB to have. Half the battle in the NFL is getting the guys in the huddle to believe in what you're doing. I do think if Tebow is going to become a legitimate NFL QB, he needs some MAJOR coaching. The offense Denver runs is BRUTAL to watch. College offenses have never worked in the NFL and they won't work with him either. The other issue with Tebow is that if he keeps running like he's a running back, someone is going to take the guy's head off. Sure, he's not a frail guy. He's a big guy and clearly strong. That said, the guys chasing after him are a whole lot bigger and a whole lot stronger, so something has to give.

I agree with everything you said.
Face it. As a Bronco fan, would you rather have a passer with better mechanics like Cam newton and be out of the playoff picture already or someone like Tebow that is getting you victories even if it's in the most unorthodox fashion?
The guy is good enough to play in the NFL, he has scored touchdowns both with his feet and and his arm and his team is still getting talked about this late in December. Seeing a lot of Bronco games on the West coast because of the Chargers getting blackouts every week, I can say that the guy is slowly improving. Yes, he makes bone head mistakes still but he has gotten better over the year.
As a fan of a team that hasn't made the postseason in half a decade, what else could you want?

Everyone wants to talk the TEAMS success like Tebow is the sole-reason why the Broncos are winning football games when he is just a little-itspy bitsy piece to the overall puzzle. When it comes to win's and loss's, you must look at the whole team dynamic.

Some quarterbacks keep their head above water all game and have the ability to keep their team in it. Not the case with Tebow. You look at his individual stats throughout the whole game as a quarterback, his grade is simply an F when it comes to the eyeball test. If Denver's defense didn't play the way they have against BAD offense's during that span, then Tebow's performances as a quarterback would of made no difference and would have actually hurt the team in the long run.

I'm never one to question Tebow's athletic ability. As John said, he's clearly a big, strong man who understands the optimism of the game when it comes to the mentality of a football player but he's HARDLY a quarterback. He's a glorified running back who happens to complete 6 pass's a game. Hardly a formula to win in this league when you're talking long-term, put the team on your shoulders types of performances that are needed when talking a franchise QB.

It's pretty telling that even John Elway AND John Fox are staying mum on Tebow's future for next season. Put him in at fullback or an H-back already and let his personal, natural talent take off and that's running the football.

Face it. As a Bronco fan, would you rather have a passer with better mechanics like Cam newton

Comparing apples, and oranges. Carolina resides in a division where keeping up is a very hard thing to do. Carolina's overall team isn't there yet. The AFC WEST division? Allows a quarterback like Tebow to take over a 1-5 football team. Comparing the two? Newton wipes the floor with Tebow as a pure quarterback all over the map, everyday of the week, all day, everyday.

Tebow's team has the chance of a winning record and making the playoffs while Cam's team hasn't had hopes all season. As a casual fan ie, not living to play fantasy football every weekend, I'm going to bet that Denver fans are a lot more happy with where their team is than the Carolina fans, regardless of which quarterback is better.
If you're teammates believe in you and up their game accordingly, that goes a long way in balancing out your own physical deficiencies.

There is also an outside chance of the Broncos not even making the post-season. With the Chargers destroying the Ravens and the Chiefs beating Green Bay, that terrible AFC WEST is still anyone's to be had, with only a 1 game difference with 2 to go. As far as Cam Newton, again, you're comparing both football teams rather than the individual. Newton, as a rookie, is not only smashing records on the ground and rushing TD's, but also throwing for the amount of yardage that no rookie has done in a long time, if not, ever.

The short term? It's safe to say that Denver fans are happy their in it and Carolina fans aren't because of their W-L record. That said, atleast Carolina Panthers fans can hang their hat on their QB of the future and build a team around him. Not the case with Broncos fans since Fox AND Elway are still scouting franchise QB's.

well I'll continue to disagree with you YJ. I truly believe Tebow is going to get better and better, its all in his character. I believe if Denver will stick with him they have a gem in their future as well, and no thats not me talking behing my Gator colored glasses.
But if his career comes to a halt then fine. I know for a fact the University of Florida has a special place waiting for him when he decides to return to his alma mater.

I've only started watching him the past 2 games, mostly because my son (a college QB) really admires him and I've heard more about him recently. There's a lot more to being a fan than just wins and losses. We have as a society forgotten the fact that our professionals who are in the public eye are role models for our children, whether it's athletes, politicians or whatever. I like the fact that Tebow's not intimidated by those who berate him for his expression of his faith, moreso than his faith itself. It says something about his integrity and character to me, and that's the kind of role model I want for my kids. Now, as a QB I don't know what to think, because it's still really early in his career and the NFL is so different than the NCAA. I don't necessarily credit him with the win over the Bears last weekend, although he certainly contributed. I think the true hero of that game was the kicker who nailed those two FG's. That was awesome!!!

That game was actually determined a whole lot more by Marion Barber...on the other side of the field!
