Seriously, until there's something to really say, this is just the same old same old.
It's not a question of "Love". It's a question of Steve having the fans on the hook forever and never delivering.
LOTS of people are "working on songs". Doesn't mean they've recorded a note.
There's nothing different here than what we've heard a million times. As for a tour, he doesn't need to tour, especially if the arthritis is really THAT bad. Do TWO shows. Film them for DVD. Release that with a new studio album. That's all that's necessary.
All the Perry diehards will now come out of the woodwork and say "he doesn't owe us anything", "he's happy now and that's all that matters", "he gave so much", and on and on. Well, that's great and those lines are actually correct. However THE fans aren't the ones doing interviews saying "Yes, I'm doing something". It's Perry saying it and constantly dangling the carrot. I'd love to hear the guy sing again.
Great Steve. Now, get to work. Otherwise, ride off into the sunset and just say "Music is just not something I'm involved with these days".
Dang, where's Dan when you need him?

Sorry, don't understand how anyone would have to eat crow. All of the points in this thread, as well as hundreds of others in the last 10+ years, are absolutely accurate. He is the one that keeps dangling the carrot. And he is the one that keeps failing to release something. Does he owe it to anyone? Nope. But you cry wolf enough, and you deserve to be doubted or criticized for not following through on what you say you want to do. No one else is to blame for that.
No one wants to hear new material from him more than I do. I am just reasonable enough to not get my hopes up for a man that has proven to not be able to produce something. No matter what the reasons may be.
That is just basic common sense.

You make a valid point...I Guess we'd all just love to hear him sing again.

EVERYONE would. But the fact is, all he does is TALK about it. He needs to DO it or QUIT talking about it.

He's not a great solo artist...he's a collaborator. He needed Journey back in the 70s, and his music today still needs Journey just as much"

It's obvious at this point that they complete each other. Steve knows it. He stated words to that effect, some years ago. I think that this is what is holding him back, knowing that the chemistry is not all there without Neal. Cain could probably be replaced.

Nope. Not unless they wanna go back to their little known status, prior to his addition to the band. Cain has everything to do with Journey's hits as much as Schon and Perry.

A lot of their best was with Rolie. They were at the top when dumb ass Rolie left. No matter what he says, he has to have regretted that move. He even stated that they were at the top and here he was giving it up. Just something he had to do but that does not make sense when any musician would give their eye teeth to be in his position then. He should have just put up with Perry's piss ass personality and setteled down to share some of the spotlight with Perry since he couldn't make it happen by himself with Journey. JMHO.
If Cain were so great, why has Journey had nothing but forgettable albums in the past decade?

It was Cain that took Journey from mega stars to super stars.

It was also Cain that made them gay. Keytar? Faded wedding photographs? Rollie is the fucking man.
