No matter, it should be a step up from the COH video even if the singer is relegated to a supporting rule this time.

Schon's using what's left of Journey's image/brand to springboard into reality television....

This is pathetic...

Sadly, this is the truth. Steve Perry needs to plead one more time for Neal not the fracture the stone. Neal seems to be bringing the wrecking ball to what is left of a once great band.

Here we go again with the Journey is in decline. So ridiculous to read this year after year for the last 15 years.....and yet they still make new music, and tour to huge crowds.

Enough already, really.....

Agreed! At some point, Cain most likely, is likely to say enough is enough. Publicity, good or bad, is better than none and being completely off the radar, but for so many years diehard Journey fans complained that their beloved band was not taken seriously, nor got the respect they deserved. While this may be solely focused on Neal and the GF trying to advance themselves, there will be some impact to the Journey brand. And, because of that, I am sure many of the longtime naysayers and some people who like their music, but don't care beyond that, are probably thinking that Neal is a total clown and attention whore.

The reality show thing is never going to happen. What network would air it? Who would watch? Neal, as everyone here likes to say, is a relatively unknown musician. And an aged one at that. And his little twat de jour is not even a c-lister. The thing would never get picked up by a network. VH1 wouldn't even touch it.

I totally agree and Neal used to be so cute back in the day. He looks like the Joker with all that plastic surgery! Not even halfway appealing.

All the more reason for him to do this. Neal has tried and tried again to step into the spotlight sans Journey (Bad English, Hardline, various solo albums, Planet Us, Soul Sirkus, yadda yadda yadda...). Artistcally they may have been interesting, but commercially not so much. Do you think he's happy constantly being pulled back to play the dirty dozen after all of those other efforts? Even his non-traditional Journey projects (30th anniversary tour, Eclipse) have not panned out as anticipated. This is just another new attempt to shed the Journey skin, even for just a bit.

Increasingly, faded rock stars are going the reality shlock TV route. Meatloaf's tantrum of The Apprentice was the most attention he's recieved in ages. Brett Michaels has undergone a career re-birth since Rock of Love. Gene Simmons and family have their own series. Fans who think that Neal is somehow above this are fooling themselves.

I don't think Neal is above this. I just don't think anyone would watch it. Heck many of us here are die-hard Journey fans, we know who Neal Schon is, and I don't think many of us would watch it. I know I wouldn't.

Hey.. Here is a better route for Neal to display his love...
He could shoot a video in an old hotel, where a video director has him staring in some ridiculous ' medevil ' type of wedding scene, when suddenly Neal's woman walks in thru the two glass doors....Neal suddenly belts out.YOU SHOULD A BEEN GONE!!....
Oh wait.

michaela has fans from when she was a dc housewife and the fact that she "ran off" to be with her true love will definitely get at least 6 episodes made and aired. and i wouldn't be surprised if bravo picks it up to keep it all in the housewife family.

I don't think anybody here thinks Neal is above anything...literally or figuratively. I keed, I keed!!

Seriously, out of all of those shows you mentioned, only the Apprentice is the one I've watched. And, I think the Apprentice probably helped Brett Michaels out far more than the Rock of Love, especially winning it all and showing up to the season finale after his stroke.

Journey's been criticized for being a commercial sellout band since that lamentable Budweiser commercial in the '70s.
While I'd prefer not to see Salahi become Journey's mascot and would rather the video consist of concert footage ONLY, and while I certainly agree that it's not a good decision, this shit is nothing new.
Hell, given that it was reported (by Don?) that the Salahi drama increased ticket sales, this might potentially increase their success and fame.

I believe Kelly Hanson mentioned that.

It's a toss up as to if it was the Salahi Drama or dumping most of the new material out of the setlist that caused the increase in tickets sales. Probably the former but then again, it could have been just better weather or some other outside variable that last month.
What ever it was, it helped get the band over the hump the last few weeks. Even with the increased ticket sales during that period, they only saw a 7% increase overall in tour gross compared to 2008 and that was despite performing 35% more shows in 2011.

I know that a lot of venues have forums and the sound issues were being talked about quite a bit even on the boards of places that the band hadn't played yet so that could have been another reason for lack of sellouts this past year.

Might have been a reason why the blogs on Journey's official site were shut down as the sound issues were a hot topic there also, starting with the shows in Europe and moving forward.

That's attributable to either the band or management's sensitivity to criticism and controlling methods. Makes me think SP is still in charge.

Some other fallout from shutting down the blogs was the complete removal of all album reviews despite all of the records having well above average scores as graded by the forum members.
I could see keeping five to ten good reviews for each album but removing all of them seemed like overkill.

I'd be embarrassed to be a fan, let alone publicly admit such, of this band. Are you kidding me? There is NO WAY Cain sticks around for more of this circus show embarrassment. People are laughing at Journey, not with them. Jesus, and you guys wonder why Perry stays miles, if not states away from this outfit? Good God.

Maybe, maybe not. If so, I'll stop seeing them live. If Journey is mostly Perry, Cain, and Schon, then this band can't afford to lose another of the big three as far as I'm concerned.
