I don't drink nearly as much soda as I used to but as the old saying goes, I'll give up my soda when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I'll just wait for the next study that says drinking soda is actually good for you.

Was the study commishened by a water bottling company, coffee company or fruit juice company? Just curious.

I wouldn't be surprised...Anyway, no one really thinks drinking sodas is good for you but, like anything, if done in moderation, it's not something that's going to kill you, either.

Well, I'm throwing out my Gatorade....read this LOVEly description of "Brominated Vegetable Oil" - one of the ingredients:  :x
www.fooddemocracy.wordpress.com

FoodDemocracy.com wrote:Brominated Vegetable Oil, is composed mainly of bromine, a poisonous chemical whose vapors are considered both corrosive and toxic. The chemical bromine is used for a number of products, from light-sensitive photographic printing papers, as an additive for gasoline, to agricultural fumigants.

(Yum )

Consumption of bromine containing products increases bromine content in our system that ultimately competes with iodine and causes iodine deficiency thereby creating a condition called “Brominated Thyroid.” Bromine is a potential carcinogen and causes a number of disorders starting from simple headache, fatigue, weight-gain to cancer, heart and kidney diseases.

Do you get a flu shot every year? They contain chicken embryos & the active ingredient in anti-freeze. Stick that in your arm.

Also, high quantities of aspartame (sweetener in diet drinks) will turn into formaldehyde in the body. That's right, the stuff they pump into dead bodies for preservation.

I used to drink this stuff called 'Oscar' in Korea. It had plenty of formaldehyde in it but I'm still kicking 25 years later.
Nothing's wrong with soda. As long as you start your day with water, end your day with water and get about 12-15 glasses of water in between you'll be okay even with the soda, beer, starbucks, red bull, etc.

Give me a break. All major studies done on aspartame has been conclusive. It's completely safe. Aspartame is broken down into two amino acids and methanol. There's about five times more methanol in a serving of tomato juice, than a equal serving of aspartame sweetened beverage.

I agree. It's very addicting. I've been drinking POP (Pittsburgh slang for soda ) at a very early age. One of the biggest cravings and addictions for me to quit. As a matter of fact, I'm going back on P90X tonight, Day 1, so that means cutting out all the sugars, caffeine, junk food and you guessed it, any diet-tized beverages. I have an easy time transferring over from brownies to the sculpturing magic of nothing but chicken breast & veggies, but I have a SEVERE time in axing Diet Pepsi or any diet pop's. My mom just dropped me off a big case of diet Doctor Pepper as well. FML

Good to hear. I don't drink a lot of carbonated drinks, but when I do, my drink of choice
is Diet DP ... I'm thinking about increasing my intake since formaldehyde would probably
be better than botox!!

The only thing diet sodas or anything which is that acidic does, is damaging your teeth. I really like the blue Monster energy drinks.

of Coke do you want?" What are my choices? Dr. Pepper,
Mountain Dew, 7-up ...

I think here in So Cal, the most common term used by the service industry is 'Beverage' unless you're in a Latino establishment; then it becomes "What kind of drink would you like?"

Well, I have cut them most of the way out due to trying to lose some lbs. Diet sodas are full of salt, and non dietary are full of sugar which turn to calories. I am down to one 20 oz diet Pepsi every other day. I have switched to unsweetened tea with Splenda, coffee, or water. We will see if it works. My brother lost 15 lbs from just dropping them all together. He found out he has #2 Diabetes. I am getting rid of my extra weight before I even get there!

No, the fact is you don't know for sure exactly what aspartame does to the body. There have been reports to indicate what I've said. Is it completely true? Who really knows for sure. Aspartame is a man-made chemical and for you to say it's "completely safe" is a stretch at best.

Anyone who calls all soda "Coke" like many in the south do, is an idiot. A can of Pepsi is not a "Coke". A root beer is not a "Coke". Morons.
