Country tends to be more welcoming of, shall I say, "God" in music...... Think that'll play out well?

We all know Journey wants this song from their "great new album" to be out there and well-known and what better avenue to get there than a generally pro-religious audience in a TV Show.

Ahh, Tantra is in no way about God

No.

Its gonna be a Dirty-Dozen-fest.

Correct.

I got a tip that if this in fact goes down, Journey will play Life is a Highway, I Won't Let Go and Both Bands will do what Flatts does every show; a live Rock Medley, featuring Boston/kansas and this time Journey. I am telling you Journey fans, your band is going to be up for a huge test. rascal Flatts is one of the best bands in the world, especially live.

Life is a Highway

I Won't Let Go. This is as good as any love song Joourney has ever done. - Simply amazing live. Gives one goosebumps.-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zus_R21nY5I

Rock Medely Live. Tell me this band can't bring it live? - This particular clip is a satellite feed for the CMA Awards Show, live from the Cotton Bowl...Foreplay/Longtime(Boston), Carry on My Wayward Son (Kansas) and Free Ride Edgar Winter Group, whatever the fuckin somg is called. There are other clips of RF playing this medley with a Journey song included in it....and they do them righteous justice. -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBD8fw95fUw

Ever hear Foreplay/Longtime by Boston done live? Me neither, until now. From beginning to end. Same set as the prior link, but this from a different show altogether, and goes from the very first note to the very last... the lead singer for Flatts, Gary Levox, plays a weird instrument to get some sounds from the Boston song. Anyone know what this weird sonofbitch is called?

Rascal Flatts really isn't all country. They could be the very first country act to cross over the other way- from Country to Rock. Any serious takes or thoughts on their talents?

Wow talk about "full circle"... considering the riff for this is a rip from an early Journey tune...

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

He said it will be a medley with Journey tunes this time, similar to what Rascal Flatts does with Boston/Kansas songs. Journey won't be doing Boston/Kansas songs, obviously.

I took this to mean it woudl be RF's reguar Boston/Kansas medley which would also include Journey this time. But yeah, it would make more sense that it was a Journey medley only.

a friend of mine in nashville said there are rumors of a scheduling conflict floating around. rascal flatts is in canada on 2/23 and then a norwegian cruise thing the week of 2/26.

I don't think Flatts is scheduled to perform for the Norwegian Spirit until March 2, when it has a docking in Mexico.

Heard this on the radio this morning...apparently it is true. This should be interesting...

That's likely because there's are only a handful of Nashville artists with the range to sing Journey material.. Flatts is one of them...

I remember Martina McBride and Pat Benatar doing the Crossroads thing... and Martina had to work at hitting some of the notes Pat was killing... and Martin a can belt...

I was at this show. It was great. Pat and Neil (Geraldo) were kickin' it like it was 1982 on MTV.

In doing some research and listening after the reports of the Crossroads thing I found they have written a relatively small percentage of their songs and only a few of the singles, none of them being among their bigger hits.
I found some of their stuff to be a little corny, which is the often case with country, but I like alot of their songs really well and overall they are alot more tolerable than just about any country music I've tried to listen to. This a good one.

Don't follow RF...but they're a dynamite group, just looking at those live performances on yt. Reminds me of the Garth Brooks heydays crossing over from country to mainstream phoenom(sp?). Journey is going to have to bring their A game playing to the RascalF audience.
Hope they don't embarrass themselves like they did at the SB performance.

The only person who embarassed anyone at the Superbowl was AP with his "i am about to pass out" eye rolls. What the hell was that shit? But I do believe that kind of stuff is behind him. Anyway, anyone who thinks Journey can't or won't hold their own musicianship wise with Rascal Flats is daft.
