Ok, but LOTS of 5K holes and plenty of "theaters." Shall we continue on? Casino and theater is pretty much the same thing. Seriously, the Starlight Theater?

You stupid shitass, so what, many were sheds? Big fucking deal when you sell 6500 tickets out of a 11K possibility. Seriously, Wiki Don backs this up with hard numbers. They simply were plsyin half filled "venues." It's like World Cup soccer. The US versus Mexico! Yeahhhhh!! This Saturday, at the Rose Bowl, "good tickets still available!"--um, yea, you think? When the hole seats 100,000 and they have sold 2300 seats(LA Beaner radio stations have given away about 600)....ya think there gonna be good tix available> Same thing with Journey. The classic rock stations and Journey give away hundreds of tickets to draw interest, and mostly end up going 2 for 1 on lawn seats just to help fill the place up. You guys are rabid fans, and I get that, but for fucj sakes, please stop making the casual fan glancing in on this thread think that they can't print tickets fast enough. The fact is Journey NEEDED 2 other acts to sell tickets to achieve selling 2/3rds of the place up; and many on here, I repeat many said Journey wasn't close to being the best band on the stage (see Ewhmatt). Anyway, I didn't come on here to bash Journey. I kind of feel like Obama and you all are Newty and Mittens....you destroy yourselves in an argument...:et's just agree to disagree and that I am right on this.

They were playing to way more than half full and most of those places seat way more than "11k". I can tell you that Journey came to Darien Lake alone in '09 and sold in the 10-12k vicinity....and with Foreigner and Night Ranger at the same venue this past summer sold 20kish. So - do they need other bands to help fill venues...YES...but they are still doing well. They aren't a Grade A level band, but they are successful and active.

You have credibility on so many other levels, don't blur that with this argument.

What everyone needs to remember is that all of this distasteful press is just another sign of the times. A person can be recorded or photographed anywhere at any time, and when you are a celebrity (A-list to D-list), you're a target. And now with disgusting paparazzi shows and websites such as TMZ and Perez Hilton, what was once frowned upon as celebrity shenanigans is now revered.

I think its pretty safe to say that even in their heyday, Journey had their moments of debauchery behind the scenes...but it was during a time when you didn't have to fear (or play up to) 24 hours surveillance, and 'speak no evil – hear no evil – see no evil' was implied and respected.

I think the days of smoking grass and getting blow jobs from groupies in the venue hallways is preferable to the reality TV crap and getting busted for assaulting women. For sure, debauchery is part of Rock and Roll but even so, there's got to be some standards.

The paper the next day said it was a close to capacity crowd and usually when it gets into the low 20's there they call it a sellout. I'm surprised it was only 13.5k....especially when that upper parking looked to be filled, but it still isn't casinos we're talking about.

They only sold out 16 shows last year, with many of them happening after the Michaele press.

Looks like the Neighbor called 911, not the girl.

http://www.statesmanjournal.com/article ... ext|News|s

Rock drummer Deen Castronovo pleaded not guilty Tuesday to four charges stemming from an arrest Jan. 20 in West Salem.

Castronovo, 47, is charged with recklessly endangering another person, interfering with making a police report, second-degree criminal mischief and harassment. All of the charges are misdemeanors.

Castronovo — the drummer in rock band Journey — was arrested late Jan. 20 at a home on St. Helens Drive NW. A neighbor had called 911 to report an altercation involving a man and woman across the street.

The woman told police that she and Castronovo had been in a relationship for three years but broke up about four weeks prior to the altercation, according to a probable-cause statement. A probable-cause statement is a document that provides legal ground for an arrest and to hold a person in jail.

The argument apparently started after Castronovo accused the woman of cheating on him, according to the statement.

Castronovo bailed out of Polk County jail just hours after his arrest. According to his release agreement, he cannot have any contact with the woman except through his attorney.

Castronovo and his attorney, Jeffrey Jones of Salem, declined to comment after the court hearing.

Castronovo is next scheduled to appear in Polk County Circuit Court at 11 a.m. Feb. 16. A trial is tentatively scheduled for March 21.

Not that any of this is good, but I don't see Assault or Domestic Violence among the charges.

That would definitely be good for him, even though the initial 4th degree assault charge was only a misdemeanor also. I think Journey is supposed to be heading for South America in March so Deen needs this not to go to court if at all possible but if the DA doesn't drop thecharges he will have no choice since he isn't going to plead no contest.
Then again, a case like this shouldn't take more than a week. From my personal experiences with jury service, it will probably take longer to select the jury than the actual trial itself.

They were a top 20 tour.

Yes, they were. With three bands of that caliber and their previous touring success in 2008 and 2006/7 (with Soto, they were #14 as co-headliners with Leppard) it should be expected.
The difference being they had 31 sellouts out of 52 shows in 2008 and 16 sellouts out of 71 shows in 2011. If you work twice as hard but don't get paid twice as much can that be considered a success?

In simpler terms, if I get paid 100 dollars for working 8 hours and 107 dollars for working 10 hours, is the extra seven dollars worth it?

Ok, but LOTS of 5K holes and plenty of "theaters." Shall we continue on? Casino and theater is pretty much the same thing. Seriously, the Starlight Theater?

Dude, you are ridiculous. I live in Detroit and the DTE Music Theater is far from a "Theater". You hate Journey so much why are you here?

Actually, a neighbor couple was arrested because of yelling at each other while intoxicated, a few years back and charged with battery. Both had to go to anger management and had to forfeit their right to bear arms for 2 years, as a probationary period. Once they passed the 2 years the record was sealed and their rights restored.

I call bullshit on those numbers. I was at the Darien Lake shows in 2009 and this past August and there was a hell of a lot more that 13k there, that place was packed full all the way to the back. In 2009, one of the ushers said there was about 10k at that show and the size of that crowd was no where close to the 2011 show.

I'm just saying it was way too full for that number to be 100% accurate, there had to be 15,000 at the very least. In 2009 the lawn was half empty, it was nearly full in 2011.

JSS said after their 2006 September date with Lippard that they had 16k at Darien. There were way more people there last August than that night. HOWEVER, maybe JSS was off. I'm only going off newspaper accounts and the like...the official numbers are I guess what they are.
