From the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy : So long and thanks for all the fish

I always thought that Kansas-"Dust in the Wind" sounds like a funeral song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH2w6Oxx0kQ&ob=av2e

but since I won't be aware of it, I don't care about a funeral. I told my husband he could cremate me and spread me out over the dolphins in Port Aransas. They would be singing, "So long, and thanks for all the ashes."

LOL!  I just thought this song is quirky enough most of the people who know me would get it. I mean singing dolphins at a funeral! LOL! The song is jazzy upbeat and the dolphins dancing it is hilarious. And after a somber memorial this to end it would maybe bring a smile with those tears.

If you haven't already, watch the video. Think of a funeral...and at the end all the dolphins fly into the heavens.

Priceless. It is so over the top for telling everyone the world would end. Happy Apocalypse!

Actually I don't want a funeral. I'd rather be cremated and my ashes spread up in the mountains some place. As far as a memorial service I told my husband to do what ever made him happy I really don't care. My Mom is 85 and years ago she prepaid for this big elaborate funeral. She even went out and bought a fancy dress to be buried in. Except she gained weight and the dress doesn't fit anymore, & almost all her friends and relatives are gone now so there won't be anyone but us to see her fancy funeral, So last year she decided it was a big waste of money and she went back to the funeral home and changed her plans. Poor woman just wanted a big send off to impress everyone, and now there won't be any one left to see it.

Funerals.....meh!

Postby Rockindeano » Sat Feb 04, 2012 6:33 pm

Not our favourite thing to do. Lula just eulogized her very close brother-in-law today. Hit her pretty hard. She was lashing out pretty hard at me today, though it was none of her fault. She was was extremeley close to Ed, and loved him like a blood brother. I understood her actions.

Thinking back to August 2007, many of you here remember Louise and I putting our 3 month old son, Trevor, on a northbound train to Heaven, to be with God, Many thanks to folks like Lora,Cyndy and Stu, (God, I really miss all 3 of you so badly and want to see you all again soon). Last time I checked planes still flew to Los Angeles! Also, my two lovely grown children; My daughter Cheyanna, 22, was voted the best shortstop in NCAA Division 1 Softball and will be trying out for the upcoming Summer Olympics! My son Bruce, 21, (yes, named after Springsteenn), is a starting pitcher on Washington State's pitching sqad( no.2 pitcher). Anyway, for those here that don't hate me, (there has to be a few! - and didn't get a chance to see it, here you go: It still makes me foggy a time or three. It may be too sappy to watch again, nut here goes:

Thank you to ALL of you FINE folks here one last time. Right now, we're praying that we don't experience yet another one of these things happening to our family again this year.

It really depends on the cause of death.

By way of natural causes, I'm leaning towards "Pale" by Within Temptation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNdS8-PEILE

By way of cancer, I'm thinking "Strong" by After Forever
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV7SjqwuHhI

By any other means of unnatural causes, I'm thinking something a little more extreme, like "Fading Star" by Sirenia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR1juIFVZIs

And there are a plethora of Nightwish songs I'd consider leaning towards if the cause of death is highly unusual. But I'm not gonna post links to half their discography.

What a beautiful video memorial that was Dean.
Though you and I aren't friends it still stabs me
in the blood pumper thinking of what you and Lady Lula lost.
I pray that I never have to live through losing one of my children.
Thank you for sharing that, made me appreciate what I have today.

Wow! That's awesome stuff right there. There's nothing, nothing I enjoy more on any given day than to discover new music that speaks to me on some level - and this one did exactly that. Thanks for posting that.!
