Funniest thing you ever read from Deano...

Postby G.I.Jim » Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:09 am

With the terrible news today, I thought I might start a thread to remember the good times we had with Dean. He and I bumped heads on here many times, but we also shared a few good phone calls that were hilarious. I think he was a good guy, and I figured I'd start off by a couple of my funniest memories of him.

I remember the post he put up about going to town on himself while at work in the bathroom. I think it was Home Depot. The way he posted that story had me rolling so hard I nearly spit out my beer!

That, and I loved some of his terminology. "Meat ditch", combing your lettuce and brushing your chiclets. All terms I learned here on MR from Dean.

What are some of your favorite memories?

All the sharting stories. Battles about LOL cats when I first joined here. Jokingly battling about all kinds of things with him. Him making lewd comments to shock me, but only made me laugh instead.

His battles with newbies.

LLL wrote:A great idea for thread Jim. I believe there are so many of us here in shock and unable to wrap our heads around this news. Perhaps laughter, Rockindeano style, would be a great send off for the big guy. I'm sure he had each of us laughing to the point of tears on more than one occasion. He had such a unique way of coming up with word combinations and descriptions that you could actually visualize what he typed - even if you needed brain bleach afterward.

My choice for this thread was when Dean created the story of the MR community on an island to themselves. Enjoy:

Just a random Dean funny: a newbie posted "Hi everybody! I've been lurking and decided to sign up and post!" or something like that. Right below his post, Deano welcomed the newbie with a hearty "Fuck you." I was in tears.

Too many things I read that were beyond hilarious, I've never read humor like his. Funniest time I will always remember was in Vegas at the P.F. Changs in that Planet Hollywood hotel (I think it was that hotel? Someone correct me if that's not the name, lol)... the looks on Dan's face, his first time meeting Dean, were absolutely priceless, just looks of utter shock and laughing all at the same time. And I mean laughing to tears, all of us. His antics with the waiter, who he had named "Seagal" (because he thought the waiter looked like Steven Seagal, he always told people who they looked like and named them accordingly, lol) and everything else that had people all around our table even laughing, were just the most hilarious I remember of him. I know that waiter and those people around us will probably never forget that night either, lol. He was definitely one of a kind like that.

More times than not his posts pissed me off. However, when I met him at AR's house back in 2006 I remember he handed me a glass of Grey Goose, up until that time in my life I'd never even tasted alcohol of any kind. I tried to decline but he insisted and I was a little afraid of the names he'd call me so I just downed it (YUCK) and shortly thereafter, I felt a lot warmer and I felt like I was BFFs with everyone there...strange thing, that GG. Anyway, the next day at the restaurant the subject somehow came up that it was the first alcohol I'd ever had. He scolded me and said "WTF? You don't START with Grey Goose, you START with lite beer." It cracked me up that it was him that made me drink it then it was him that scolded me for doing it!

Though I'm only a casual poster on the boards, I've got a couple of things that come to mind:

First off, I think there was one time where he said something about my hockey insight being slightly more intelligent than a lot of people on the board...but I tell you honestly, I think it was dumb luck that I knew my schit in the heat of the moment.

I also knew that dissing Drew Bledsoe in any way was one way to get the worst out of him. He once said he was the self-proclaimed college roommate of said QB. It was just easy to pick on Bledsoe because he was a statue in the pocket and he was victim of some of my all-time favorite QB sacks & INTs of all-time.

Maybe the moment wasn't ha-ha kind of funny. But I found it amusing that I somehow by random chance discovered AND pissed off Drew Bledsoe's former college roommate. If only I had that kind of dumb luck chance with the lottery.

That's really all I remember. I never met the guy, and I thought a lot of his posts were outright irritable and had a tendency to piss me off. I just skipped over his posts and peoples' reply to him thereafter. So I never got to enjoy any of the humor that others have mentioned.

My posts in general have a tendency to bring both the best and worst out of people. Deano was no exception. It was just more extreme in his case, and if anything it's caused me to be a much more conservative poster.

Either way, R.I.P. Deano.

There's no way you can pick just one, but if forced I'd narrow it down to any of his posts to/about Natalie and Jon Cain.

My favs were around the time of "Tapegate" / Jeff stepping forward to save Journey. I took a lot of heat from him in the beginning defending THP.

Yeah, as a matter of fact I can think of maybe one time that he gave me shit about being a Soto fan. I never let his shit get to me. It's the internet. I don't take it too seriously.

I remember first joining and getting a good talkin' to from him. He called me a spineless bitch for not wanting to get into inner-Journey politics, as I truly wanted to like the band

Dean chimed in on one of my Facebook posts several months back. I wish I could dig up that gem of a post. He basically talked about some chick he shagged and what a champion swallower she was  Fucking CLASSIC Dean. Needless to say, many of my close friends and family wondered who this guy was and what he was all about. I'm laughing just thinking about it. I am so pissed that this guy isn't with us any longer. Greatest personality is the history of internet message boards. NOBODY comes close to this guy. The people who accused him of being a bully were simply pussies who couldn't hang with the big boys. RIP Dean. You will be missed more than you'll ever know. I just read this news 20 minutes ago, and feel sick to my stomach.

Is this the best all of you can do? I'm trying to explain Deano to a friend of mine right now and can't find a single killer quote of his containing the word 'choad' anywhere. Somebody help me out here. I cherish your memories, but I'm getting hammered in his honor and this shit so far is like the Pearl

Yeah, that might just disolve all that petro-jelly you whack with. There's gotta be a ton of build up there, dude.

OK, Martha Stewart, just what do you use?

Mineral spirits or paint thinner.

I have to go to the bullpen lately, and summon up the baby oil. My Vaseline is plum dry. Trust me, I scraped every lip and corner of that fuckin' tub for any measurable remnant of Petroleum Jelly...none left. So Baby oil is pinch hitting for now.

Paint thinner, eh? Seriously?

Back in college, I was desperate, and roommates were all out. I had to use margarine, because the Wesson oil was all gone.

My favorite is when we exchanged cell phone numbers and anything goes. I use to fuckin' drill him with Steelers stuff and every time he'd say "Oh Jesus Fucking Christ." It became a ritual between us. I'd just say "Steelers" out of the blue and he'd say "Oh Jesus Fucking Christ" every time. Laughed my ass off with that. Also, the turds that dude exploded out of his butthole should literally be in some showcase in some kind of museum. Dude shat turds that belonged in Guinness Book of World Records.

As soon as I saw "Picture message from Big Dean" I literally would hold the phone in my hand, take a deep breath, and embrace what I was about to look at. Funny thing is with his turd messages, that even though I was flat out disgusted, I had to stare at it and examine it before I figured what the hell I was doing. It was that impressive, lmao. Big Dean!
