I have to say, when I used to be bored at work, 5 years ago, Dean and others made the day go by so much quicker...and made it entertaining. I wasn't posting back then, just lurking.

There are too many funny things Dean said or did. I probably forgot more than I remember, there were so many classic moments. Probably the last one I remember was Dean's dust up with Les (Neal's stepdad). LOL The way Dean blasted him was hysterical and Les coming back with one of my new favorite lines (which I now use often): "I like to buy you for what you know and sell you for what you think you know." This may have been the last great MR dust ups.

I think everyone got at least one "fuck you too" or "I'm done with you" PM from Dean. I know I did after the Les/Dean episode. To get a "fuck you too" type PM was a badge of honor.

Once he quit cursing and boozing (for 2 whole days). I am on the blower throwing my usual array of f bombs his way and he goes "Dude stop cursing man! Fuck!"
Why?

"Because, choad! I gave that shit up, that and booze for a while!" 2 days later he was right back to it.

Very well-said, Andrew.

I haven't logged on here in a LONG time, but I felt the need to do so today when I saw JSS's facebook post about Dean. I never met Dean in person, and my dust-ups with him were few and far between. But I could tell that he had a deep love for his family and friends. I will pray for all who love him today.

I wished there had been time to say "so long". It seems lately people have just slipped out the door without a look over their shoulder or a wave of their hand as they departed. I will always remember Deano as he was to me; a kind and sweet funny man. I am sure he will dance amongst the stars and his thoughts and keen wit will flash through the Universe and down upon us as the blinding bright light of the Sun.

LOL the only time he replied to one of my posts I got an FU.

I took it with a big laugh....he was only passionately defending what he believed to be true.
I respected that.

It didn't take long for me to run into Dean. Actually, it took "Posts: 1" for me to run into Deano. I start posting in 2006 as YoungJRNYFan and it was because of him that I immediately had an ounce of disdain for this board. I made a post about Augeri/JSS or something along those lines, right in the heart of the Tapegate era (I was ignorant towards that fact at the time) and not only 3 response's after my first post, there's Dean: "You're a fucking idiot. Get the fuck out of here!" After that I was like "Jeez, what a dickhead, alright. Time to have some fun" and the rest is history, haha. After spending a LONG time on here and then getting to know MR's personally in Vegas and then again in Cleveland and Pittsburgh, this place is pretty much my neighborhood of the internet. First site I check at ALL times. Got to thank the Big Man for that.

So sad to actually get this news concerning RnD. For the past year or so, suggestions cropped up now and then that something gravely is not well with Deano…without specifically indicating what the problem was. And, even though we are mostly strangers posting on a messageboard accessible 24/7…frequented by a cast of characters so diverse that our paths might otherwise never cross in real life…still, there’s a sense of a family environment here, that is, in this cyberspace MR community.

Of course, synonymous with any family where competitive rivalries exist, disagreements and in-fighting break out…and Deano is(was) larger than life (literally and figuratively). His posts are always funny, informative, and darn entertaining to read.

However, thinking back, I did not always feel this way. Having just “discovered” SP&Journey music back in ‘05, fan messageboards were like a new find and nothing experienced before. Here on MR’s Journey Board, strictly a lurker in the beginning, RnD and TNC were the meanest, crudest couple of guys I could ever imagine. SP and the loons were main targets for personal attack almost on a daily basis…other posters piled on, too.

Then, all of sudden, Tapegate broke. RnD turned his venom toward SA and the wigglers (transforming to loveable lug for the loons), while TNC went MIA. This was not a favorable period for the band or their fans.

Years since passed…posters come and gone. RnD became a legend, larger than life poster. His profile started surfacing on the Board…a big guy…not bad-looking, kinda cute…boy, what a humongous set of hands! As for TNC, he started posting again after the scandal passed, toned down his style quite a bit from those early years when he and Deano were the Big Bullies (1-2 punch) of this Board. Nowadays, TNC is an elder statesman…long-time Journey fan…his posts are insightful and I, for one, enjoy reading.

RIP, Deano.
You will be missed

Perfect Andrew...

Your Heart To His...

I Did Not Know Or Meet Deano
But I Will Never Forget Him, Because
He Just Came Out Of Nowhere And
Gave Me A Ration Of Shit And I
Slammed Him Back As Hard As He
Did Me....And Then I Felt Like A Heel...

But, That Is Who He Was, As I Grew
To Learn!!

Deano, May You Rest In Peace And
Have No More Hurt...For All That Loved
You...May Their Heart's Keep You....

Condolences To Deano's Family...

You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like the seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
