Jeremey,

Congrats on finally getting YOUR voice out there! I love what I have heard, gotta agree it is stronger than anything Journey has put out in a long time. Put me down for a copy and get on the horn and call J.C. and N.S. you can help them write some songs next time out.

Cool Steve, glad that tune caught your interest...It's definitely the odd tune on the CD, more of a noir soundtrack tune with horns & jazz guitar. I hope you like it!

Haha, wow, thanks Tony - I don't think Cain or Schon wants/needs my help at this point, but personally I'm just glad to finally get my tunes heard without the baggage of Journey or Frontiers, just on my own merit.

It's been very cool witnessing the evolution and maturity of this song. I've been a fan of Jeremy's since the first time I heard /saw the videos of him covering Journey, and more specifically Perry. He's got a certain charisma and charm that comes across as genuine and sincere.

When I play this song for people, I don't immediately tell them who it is. I like to watch them try and put a face to the voice - which they never do although they're always "pretty sure they've heard some of his stuff..." When I do tell them who he is, which always includes him being considered for Journey's front man - which, I feel adds to his credibility as well as the hope that they'll come away from hearing him for the first time with something they can remember and will hopefully look for more from him.
Considering the unique history he has with the band and the events which took place, it would have been very easy for him to become bitter and perhaps even hang up his pipes (which would have been a travesty IMHO). Instead, he continues to do what he loves which resulted in this excellent.... ballad? anthem? anthemic-ballad....? Hmm....

Anyway, if you read this Jeremy, kudos to you my brother. I find myself singing this song out loud, in my head, etc. several times a day. Man, talk about a hook!! :o

Can't wait to hear what's next from you!

God Damn!!! Thanks for posting that here Steve. Man oh man did that ever evoke some serious emotions in me I thought I had pretty well handled but apparently not. My oldest daughter moved out last July and my youngest will be doing the same this fall when she starts ASU. As both of them got closer to becoming an adult, I wanted so badly to come up with something to say to them that wouldn't sound corny and awkward but would convey how much I love them and how proud of them I've always been for having made the right decisions when when it counted and Jeremy did exactly that so eloquently and succinctly with the line... "...instead of letting go, I've learned to let you grow."
Beautiful!

Well, what can I say, my voice is raspier...I was suffering from a polyp on my vocal cord throughout most of the year. Luckily I was recording a CD of my own songs in my own voice, so I didn't have to worry about being compared to "you know who."

I can say I've never heard that Gregg Rolie song, but it, like "Stay" and about 100 other pop hits, utilizes or is influenced by the I V vi iii IV I IV V chord progression (see also "Basket Case" by Green Day, "Where The Streets Have No Name" by U2, "Say You, Say Me," by Lionel Ritchie, "Cryin" by Aerosmith, and "Let It Be" & "In My Life" by The Beatles). I can see where the similarity can be made with the vocal coming in fairly quickly, etc. I'm glad you guys enjoy it!!

The CD comes out March 6th at CD Baby and also iTunes & Amazon, and a preview of the whole album can be heard here:

Thanks again!

Jeremey - OUTSTANDING music man. Simply outstanding. I have to admit - I hadn't heard of ya before last night, but was blown away by the sound of your free download and spent the rest of the evening just absorbing the calibur of the tunes on your site. Magnificent.

I'm an old school music fan Jeremey - I like having that physical media. Will this album actually be released to CD so those of us who still need to have that disc and artwork can enjoy it as well?

Fantastic work man. Just fantastic.

Thanks George, I'm really glad you like the tunes. The physical CD will be on sale from my website next Tuesday, and it will be the best of both worlds, because if you buy the physical CD, you will also be able to automatically download the album in any format you want, so you'll get the CD and also be able to hear it instantly!

Just got the advance digital download of the CD. 1st 3 songs are really good. Great 1, 2, 3 punch to start things. Stylistic changes in the middle. Good songs too, but more diverse influences. Definitely impressed - especially with the production value. Congrats J. You should be really proud of it.

Rick, my wife is giving me the business for not getting it to say "Ed & Lori" in the liner notes instead of just my name. I told her to buy her own copy.

They're backers on Kickstarter. I can't get it to download because my inet connection is cutting out this evening. It might work better later on tonight. At least I have a hard copy coming. :)

You guys are awesome, thanks and I'm glad you like the disc. I knew the CD was going to take a big left turn with a couple songs, and so I stacked those three great rock and roll songs at the top of the playlist, hoping that I'd have everyone's good faith by the time we got to "Lotus" & "I Think I Know." While they don't fit the mold of the classic melodic rock tune, I think Tater's right that the more you go back and listen to the disc, it's those tracks that keep you listening and make the disc interesting on repeated listens. Glad you like the production as well Ed, this was produced on a very independent budget and I'm really grateful to everyone involved for making such a (relatively) great sounding disc!

Don & everyone else, the disc goes on sale Tuesday, and Monday night at 10 (Eastern time!) Class X Radio is playing the whole disc with my commentary from the studio.

Thanks Eric, yes it is available today, only from my website (powered by Bandcamp).

www.music.jeremeyfrederick.com

I will upload it to iTunes later this month but I really want people to either download or buy the physical CD through the Bandcamp system as it offers a selection of lossless audio formats (rather than the compressed audio of iTunes), and it also includes the 10 page digital booklet for the CD....But the best option is the $12 for the CD - It's only $2 more than the download and it INCLUDES an instant download of the CD (with the PDF booklet) so you can have the tunes while you wait for your CD.

Thanks man, hope you like the tunes!

When I first saw this thread I thought Jeremey was stomping on outta here for whatever reason. Jeremey- Stay!

Anyway...love the new music. I was catching up and reading your site...you worked with John Spinks? How'd that come about? Maybe I just have to do some more reading. I'm a HUGE Outfield fan. I remember chatting with you about it some years ago.

This needs to be the official drink of Jeremey Frederick: http://www.livevocal.com/aboutvocal.cfm

And no..I still don't care for the new "Journey"
