Good music to work out to.

Postby SusieP » Wed Mar 07, 2012 4:16 am

As many people have recently said on here that they have had a wake up call healthwise because of Deano and Dan, I thought I'd ask what music on the old MP3 player gets you working really hard when at the Gym.

I was on the Cross Trainer this morning and I usually plod along at a steady pace, but 'Ace of Spades' by Motorhead came on my MP3 just as I started training and the speed of that thing made me really go for it! I had to keep up with it!
I was knackered by the end of the song.

Then later, 'Ten Inch Song' by Aerosmith came on and that made me really go for it, too.

What songs encourage you to work that extra bit harder when exercising?

"Us and Them" by Pink Floyd.

Kidding of course. I've just always found that song to suck every molecule of air out of a room. :?

I know that track.
It's slower than a slow thing on a slow train to slow town!

LOL, on a Cross Trainer, yes.....but it's a kickass song for the treadmill.

Love when that song comes on mid treadmill, will even replay it again sometimes. I usually have a stack of concert dvds (Motley, Cure, Mr. Big, Talisman, etc, - JSS's Queen dvd is a great one for the tm) beside my tv/dvd downstairs in front of the treadmill. I find it goes mush faster and more fun when you have visuals and pounding loud music.

You work out at home? Wow. Such willpower.
I can only do it if I go to the Gym.

And yes, I was on the Cross Trainer when Ace of Spades came on my player. I pretty much kept up with it without falling off, but I had jellylegs for a bit after!!!

 Been a little lax lately......

I have my own funky kind of dance/walk/run/aerobic treadmill thing going on. Haha, I'm sure I look like a complete spaz during a fast song, I have everything moving when on the treadmill. I think I would be bored easily without the concert dvds to watch with the volume just cranked. LOL I figure if they're breakin' a sweat on stage, I damn well better be on the treadmill too.

Don't laugh - I've been doing Zumba classes.

Hilarious.

But it's fun as long as you don't take yourself seriously.

LOL!.. I find going to the gym is alot easier than exercising at home. When I see the money being drained from my account every month thats my motivation to go.  Spaz is my middle name at the gym... and I'm sure I'm everyone's entertainment while I'm there.

I'm a bad source for asking about music, I've been listening to Country music lately which consists of Lady A, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and a couple others.. hardly the exercise music your looking for. JSS can get you going.. very fast paced and the chance of flying off the treadmill is very good. :P

Oh, you know Motown moves the soul and the ass...listen
to David Ruffin sing Ain't Too Proud To Beg and tell me
every muscle in your body doesn't want to move.
I'm not all about fast paced music when working out, unless
I'm on the elliptical w/a time constraint. You've
gotta concentrate on the core ...careful, precise movement,
with a little shimmy in the shoulders and a sway in the hips.
Deb ...your "big three" work perfectly here^^^^.

More Goodies ... Fat Bottom Girls, Baby Got Back and Bust A Move, etc.

Suz~Zumba is awesome ...did you get the belly dance skirt so you
can be aware of your muscle movement?!? Get it girl!!

Yes; I did try it.....had a migraine headache from the constant jumping in place AND it severely affected my L7 spine injury.

Want my advice?

Zumba is rhythm, dance and exercise. It combines dance routines to
Latin/Salsa/Samba rhythms w/cardio training and aerobic sessions.
Fast and slow rhythms combined w/resistance training to build and sculpt
key muscles in your body while burning fat. The entire routine is high energy.

Yikes, gotta be careful w/that!!

Well, I really enjoy the Zumba.
I grin so much that I hardly realise I am working hard.

The music is such happy music that I can't help but enjoy myself.

As MG says, you have to find what is good for you.
And anything that keeps me fit and makes me smile without me feeling like I am working out has to be a good thing for me!

Hey guys,

sorry; I was in a bratty mood last night.

I was just really disappointed when I found out what Zumba was....I thought it was more of a Latin Dance Routine / less of an "aerobic" thing.
More power to you & I hope it works out for you, Suzer 8) :D
