That was a fast 5 years. I can't believe it's already been that long. I hate it that he's gone. What a great singer.

I remember posting the story on this board when it broke (it hit the local news here quickly), and I said immediately that I thought it was a suicide (and got some criticism for suggesting such a thing). The second I saw the local police chief state that there was no investigation needed (30 minutes after finding Delp in his home), it wasn't difficult to connect the dots. Such a sad story. By all accounts, Delp was a really good guy. It's just sad that he wasn't able to overcome what he was battling. I still remember him leaving a note for the first responders on the scene, warning them of the carbon monoxide danger, and the fact that he put his pet cat in a separate part of the house, so his cat wasn't harmed.

Apparently Tom had decided 5 years is long enough, they are going out on tour this summer. Will be interesting to see who they get to sing.

I saw them in 2008. They had Michael Sweet from Stryper and the Home Depot guy singing

I saw them four times in 2008. I will be seeing them again this summer. Tommy DeCarlo (the Home Depot guy) is still with them, but Michael Sweet is not. I am wondering if they are at least going to get someone to replace him as a third guitar, if not his vocals as well. Someone needs to pull his balls out from between his legs and get Fran Cosmo back on guitar and vocals. I don't know if they are going to be able to replace their signature sound with only two guitars. There were times in the band's live history when they had five guitarists on stage (Tom Scholz, Gary Pihl, Brad Delp, Fran Cosmo, and Fran's son Anthony).

DeCarlo is a parrot. Hands in pockets playing a mime.
Sometimes you just have to let well enough alone and move on.

I'm a huge Boston fan and I had the good fortune of seeing Brad front them twice earlier in the 2000s before he decided to do this. It was a great show other than terrible sound mixing issues at both shows (different venues... can only assume the 5 guitars, multiple keyboards/organs, multiple singers and the trademark Boston guitar effects rigs make it very complicated to get the sound right). But I will not venerate a suicide.
