Love that pic. Marty lives here in Charlotte and works out at my gym (not the one where I'm employed). He's a pretty cool cat...very laid back. I worked for Ric for a number of years at Gold's Gym.

That pic was taken in Charlotte. I will be back there in August for the next fanfest convention.

Shouldn't Ric Flair be in a nursing home or something?

Well, maybe. But those Journey fans wanting Steve Perry back should know they are about the same age.

(Perry is a month older than Flair - both born in 1949)

Man, that's cool. I remember loving that shit when I was a kid. My dad would walk by and say "You know that it's fake". I would argue that fact like only a 10 year old could. I know Ric Flair from the pic, is the one on the right Barry Windham? Then Ole Anderson, damn, whose the others? This made me smile AR and kind of laugh knowing that you went as far as a convention. Cool though man.

Hell yeah the four horsemen.

Ric Flair,Arn amd Ole Anderson and Tully Blanchard

you couldn't get better than NWA wrestling in the mid to late 1980's.Besides the horsemen you had the Road Warriors,Midnight Express,Dusty Rhodes,Nikita Koloff and i watched that on TBS a lot growing up and those were indeed great times.I also remember Dusty Rhodes sexy little sidekick Precious i think her name was.

Cool stuff- those guys are from a time when "wraslin" was "wraslin". I've got no interest in it anymore. I hate to admit it, but I used to love to watch "Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling" every Saturday- I think most of those guys from that era got their start on that show.

BTW- Whooo!!

Ahhh wrestling loved that stuff. Before the WWF, WWE etc. there was the AWA out of MN. Owned by Verne Gagne, the Hulk started out his career with the AWA, Mean Gene Okerlund was the announcer, other famous wrestlers included Bobby "The Brain Heenan", Nick Bockwinkle, Jessie "The Body Ventura", The Vashon Brothers and local Milwaukee hero, the Crusher. Who said he kept in fighting shape by running along the lake front with a full barrel of beer over each shoulder. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Used to be right into wrestling back in the day. So many of them came from here, training in the Hart dungeon and getting their start on Stampede Wrestling. From what I recall, Ed's got a pic with one of my all-time faves back in the day. Brett Hart, such a down-to-earth stand up nice guy too, does so much for charities etc. I think he and the British Bulldog's were probably my faves. Yes, we are talking a long time ago.

lol ...I don't know these names, I wasn't into the wrestling thing. In fact, I called it fake until
I saw the way Hulk Hogan reacted to someone calling it fake. I do appreciate the great lengths
the wrestlers take to keep themselves in such fine physical condition. I'm certain they put
their bodies through a lot in the ring, regardless of the reality. I still think it's as scripted
as those reality TV shows, just more entertaining and w/better storylines. Hooray for the good
works they do for the children and their fans ...I've heard they were good people!!

I remember the pre-"Hulkamania" days when the biggest wrestling matches were the Freebirds vs. the Von Erichs in the World Class Championship Wrestling and also The AWA (where Hulk Hogan was first wrestling) with The Gagnes, Larry Zbyszko, Curt Hennig and the Midnight Rockers (Shawn Michaels' first gig). By the way AR, how long ago was that pic of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan? I remember he had some health problems, cancer or something like that.

Was REALLY into wrestling back in the good old days of Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales. My grandfather used to come into the living room and say "Why you watchin' that crap. It's all fake". He would then promptly sit down after wrestling and watch Roller Derby

It has been many years since I seen this gang (except for Flair). Lets see if this is right (from L to R) - Ole Anderson, JJ Dillon, Arn Anderson, some jobber (lol), Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, and Barry Windham. Wasn't Luger a member for a while? Last I heard Luger was in prison. Still there? Then in the later years they had Brian Pillman, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and ex-chicago bear Steve McMichael.

Pro wrestling has changed so much from back then. No more baby faces v. heels. Too much sex and shades of grey these days. I remember loving to watch when I was a kid, but I don't think I would let my son watch now. At least not yet. It is definitely for a teen and up audience these days. Kind of a shame.

Very cool night. We saw them sitting there, and I walked up to the table and sat down and offered to buy rounds if they would tell us old wrestling stories. They invited us to join them and we sat there for 3 hours. They paid for rounds equally though and didn't take me up on my offer. Great guys!
