March Madness

Postby hoagiepete » Thu Mar 22, 2012 4:31 am

Surprised there is not a March Madness thread in place. No college basketball fans?

Some musings...

Anyone sad Duke lost to a 15 seed?

Has anyone tired of seeing the same damn advertisements run over and over and over?

I've got Kentucky going all the way. Don't see anyone beating them. Except, maybe, Michigan State.

College basketball is losing me. The dribble drive and hope you're fouled offense is boring to watch.

I'd hate to be a ref with this offensive strategy. I guess they have figured it out. Just don't call anything. Let them hack the shit out of everyone. Call charge/blocks everyother one like jump balls.

The repeated reference to "student athletes" during press conferences crack me up.

Why do they bother interviewing "student athletes"? Has any of them ever offered a word of wisdom or anything of interest?

I thought Roy always looked whipped while at Kansas. Holy cow...it gets tougher with age.

Pac 12 sucked. Sorry Deano (assume they have cable up there).

When are they going to put a Higher Place video montage together?

Someone tell the Southern Miss morons that Puerto Rico is a US Commonwealth. How embarrassing.

Is Syracuse's zone effective because refs let them cream the opposing players? Got to give Boeheim credit, but I can't stand the guy.

My bracket is toast.

I'm NEVER tired of seeing Duke lose.

What I hate is that CBS is using NBA analysts like Barkley to do college analysis. The guy is funny but he doesn't seem to know shit about college ball. Oh...I also don't want to hear Bill "The Human Hernia" Raftery do any more games.

I could have seen this Duke team going a ways into the tournament, or losing in the first game. Sure, they were good, but didin't have the invincible air that Duke normally has. You had to shoot well and catch them on a bad shooting night, but there were plenty of times that they looked beatable this season, and that's rare. To some extent, I think Coach K got more wins out of that team than he could have. They struck me as a ten-loss team and never really recovered from the 2nd UNC beatdown.

Michigan State has the best chance. A rematch with UNC would be a heck of a game, but the Marshall injury throws everything up in the air. Beyond that, you are looking at UK having a bad shooting night and someone else going ballistic for them to go down.

I'm getting tired of the hack-a-player defense also. At the rate it's going, sooner or later, someone is going to get seriously injured and not be able to play the game again. It may take just that to force change.

some things never change.... That being said, I'd hate to be in his shoes right now. We're down to our 3rd and 4th options for point guard. UNC is due a break as we've been very injury-prone for the past couple of years.

I love the madness that is march. With it, you actually crown a true national champion. Duke, beside's Rivers was slow. I hate Duke anyway and was glad to see them exit. I disagree though with the dribble drive and hope you get fouled. Sure why not dribble drive when your playing man to man and your a full step quicker. That's the game. If he's beating you, switch to zone or a box in one, a one three one. That's up to the coach to switch out when your being dominated by one player. Syracuse is good because they have depth, unlike the other teams. UNC has a great history, but Roy Williams is the biggest dickhead you'll ever meet. The only person I met that was more of a shithead was Tommy Lasorda, the fuckwad. You gotta hand to to Tom Izzo. The motherfucker is a genius. This year, MSU doesn't really have a lot of quickness or great shooters, but give Tom Izzo 3 to 4 days and he'll figure out a way to beat your ass. I'm ready for the Sweet 16. GO WARRIORS! Figure that one out basketball fans.

4 Ohio schools in the Sweet 16 this year. That's the first time in history that any state has had 4 teams in the sweet 16 in the same season.

Amen.

Without a doubt, Raftery is the most obnoxious announcer on tv. Awful.

Dude sounds like an abdominal strain waiting to happen. If he pops a testicle on TV, I wouldn't be surprised.

I like Raferty, but Len Elmore is one racist ass fucker, along the lines of John Thompson. I miss Billy Packer, told it like it was and didn't mince words. My all time favorite for college ball was Joe Dean and his catchphrase "String Music"!

It causes problems at work. There are a few staunch basketball fans who want to watch all the games, and then everyone else want to watch anything else.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
