Faithfully on NBC's the Voice

Postby JourneyFanJeff » Tue Mar 27, 2012 2:50 am

I don't know if anybody here has been following The Voice on NBC this season, but I recently saw a preview for one of the battle rounds for a duet of Faithfully which is going to premeire tonight at 8pm EST. Should be interesting to see how it goes down.
Journey on, Keep the faith alive, and Don't Stop Believin'!

This will be the next Journey tune that every TV show in the country falls in love with.

Any props for SP and/or Journey here?

Faithfully is climbing the iTunes charts already. It was #108 at midnight when I went to bed and now it's at #83, 79 spots ahead of Don't Stop Believin'

Justin's take could lend itself to a country version of this tune. Tony's approach was just too much for this tune IMO. Not horrible by either one, but I would say all of Journey's singers, when healthy, do much better on this song.

The only good part of watching that was the bald guy's wife. She was spectacular.

Geezuz...there is such a thing as too much emotion, isn't there?!?
I stand by my comments on the other thread about singers covering this Journey song  .

I never watch these shows, but Debbie and Neelee were watching it and I heard the human roll-on deodorant dude practicing Faithfully, and during his practice, he sounded pretty damn good. I heard the other contestants talking about him having such a great range, so I had to listen to the performance. And as many said here, it was just awful. That's one song you do true to form, and he took too many liberties and was out of tune in several places. I was hugely disappointed. One piece of advice I have for this young singer. If you're going to put makeup all over your head, at least use shading somewhere. He looked like he just came from the funeral home, and didn't sound much better. I'm SURE he can do better than that. He does have a good voice.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

this was pretty bad. I gotta admit I was rooting for Tony Vincent as he is from my hometown, but damn his Broadway training came out and bit him in the ass! too dramatic and scream laden for me. Dude has a good voice, he just needs to tone it down some.

I watched the show and I have to agree w/Ne-yo ...
"The strength of this song is the emotion of the song"
Noone can do it like the original, obviously ...and as
a result people tend to oversing. Plus, they were overcompensating
for their inability to hit the notes. These guys are both
good singers ...but the only time I felt emotion was when
they showed the families ...it was a lackluster performance from
two otherwise very good singers.

My fav so far is the Adele sounding girl ...jeeez~uz I love her
voice, so rich and powerful.
