Is the world ready for a sequel to Twins?

Universal and Montecito Picture Co. are hoping to develop a doozy of a follow-up to the 1988 hit comedy that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito that would reunite the two stars.

But wait, there’s a twist: In the new scenario, Eddie Murphy would act as a third brother.

Titled Triplets, the story would see Schwarzenegger and DeVito as brothers Julius and Vincent, conceived experimentally, who discover they have third sibling.

The project doesn’t have a director at this early stage -- Ivan Reitman, who helmed the original, would only act as a producer with his Montecito Picture Co. cohorts Joe Medjuk, Tom Pollock and Ali Bell, according to sources -- but the hunt is on for writers to develop the idea. Insiders caution that no substantial creative discussions have taken place between Universal and Montecito.

The actors are attached to star.

This wouldn’t be the first sequel to an 1988 film that Universal is working. The studio is developing a sequel to Midnight Run that sees Robert De Niro, one of the film’s two original stars along with Charles Grodin, returning in an incarnation to be directed by Brett Ratner.

Could be interesting!

I'm looking foward to this sequel finally...

‘Anchorman 2 Confirmed: Will Ferrell Announces Sequel to Cult Comedy Favorite

After years of chatter and online rumors, a sequel to the cult comedy favorite “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” has finally come together as funnyman Will Ferrell has signed on to star again as 1970s news anchorman Ron Burgundy.
Ferrell showed up at Conan O’Brien’s TBS talk show in character as Ron Burgundy on Wednesday, where after a dazzling jazz flute solo and some insulting banter with O’Brien and sidekick Andy Richter he made the announcement.
“I want to announce this to all of our friends in the Americas, Spain, Turkey and the U.K. — including England — that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount pictures and myself … have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman,’” Ferrell said to massive audience applause. “There will be a sequel.”

Ferrell’s “Anchorman” co-stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, who have both gone on to major movie success since the original hit theaters in 2004, will also return to reprise their roles as dim-witted, lamp- loving Brick Tamland and fashionable lead field reporter Brian Fantana, according Deadline.com.
“Anchorman” followed the often surreal and outrageous adventures of Burgundy, the top-rated anchorman in San Diego in the 1970s, and his gang of out-of-touch buddies as they delivered the news in the then male-dominated world of broadcasting. Their cozy careers — and Burgundy’s love life — get shaken up when female anchor Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate, enters the newsroom.
“Anchorman 2″ will be produced by comedy king Judd Apatow, along with Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions. McKay will direct, while he and Ferrell will script the film. The two are still “kicking around ideas” for the sequel, according to Deadline.com.

:D :D :D
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I remember the first time that I ever saw the original "Twins" movie, I thought "Damn, that's one of the hottest girls I've ever seen," as soon as I saw Kelly Preston! Especially after the scene with her bent over on the bed.

I'm curious to see how this turns out, but I don't think anything can save Mr. Murphy's career now.

Funny, because when I read this, I saw it as Arnold salvaging his acting career. Eddie is still funny. Saw him in Tower Heist, which was an ok movie, kind of slow, but really the entertaining parts were all the ones involving him. He just needs the right movie.
