I wasn't trying to insult you, (don't think the "difficulty in reading" bit was necessary at all) you just seem kind of defensive when it comes to negative stuff about the band.

Finally, I never said I didn't like the material Journey has put out in recent years. Kind of sounds like you're wanting to pick a fight. Cool your engines dude. My whole point is, I think it's welcoming to have different opinions, no matter how much it might annoy one. If it bothers you that badly, stay away from the negativity. I've pretty much enjoyed the tapegate thread, because it IS a part of Journey history.

You called me a bitch...I'd say my comments are much less aggressive.

Oh geez....fine! Sorry for calling you a bitch! Who would have ever thunk it!

My own point I was making above was that if Perry doesn't come out of his shell and recognize that Glee could be a huge boost for the band, no one in the press would still be mentioning his name today as far as Journey is concerned. Perry DID come out of his shell though. He made himself available and always kept the spotlight on what THEY (he, Cain and Schon) had created with DSB.
When DSB was blowing up in 2010 in the states and around the world, Perry was the guy in the media working it. Journey's Greatest Hits was at number 8 in the UK, DSB at #6 on the singles chart but the band itself was no where to be found. Perry stepped in and re-branded himself as part of Journey during that time.
If the guy stayed in his shell, his name wouldn't still be out there today. Perry saw that opportunity was knocking and took advantage of it to the benefit of all of Journey, past and present.

I agree 110%! Those three working together is what put Journey on the map. No offense to Gregg Rolie at all. But, Cain, Schon, and Perry together was a Championship combination.

Touring has kept Journey employed. But, we can see A LOT of these classic bands touring all the time - but we don't see the touring making them any more successful. In my opinion, what makes a band truly successful is being heard, on a regular basis, through the medium that continues to gauge the success of these artists - top 40 radio. Not XM or Sirus radio, not adult contemporary radio - but top 40. That is where the masses hear the music. Even in today's iPod and satellite radio era, top 40 continues to be the measuring stick.

You know, there is a simple solution.

For those who always need their Journey fix with a few cubes of sugar, I've found a very special place for you.
A place where dreams really do come true.
And guess what? Blueskies, Brywool, artist4perry, steveo777 and a lot of your other pals are already there.

No smoking, no drinking, no cursing and best of all no criticism of Journey allowed (unless it involves Steve Perry, of course).

Enjoy yourself.

Just click on the picture and you'll be on your way. :D

Obviously, I have too much time on my hands today. Blame it on the rain that keeps me from wanting to leave the office.

Man, I miss 'since78' (Mark). We would always go ninja some threads on dull days like this.

Well said.

Tapegate is what brought us all together. We should celebrate it. :o
This whole situation is what brought me here when those Journey fans wouldn't accept it. TGFS (Thank God For Soto)...

There are too many people who post on here just to be negative about Journey...so that term fits. If I hated something as much as some folks hate Journey on here I would find something better to do. I just don't get it.

I don't believe it's "haters" (I agree Don, pretty gay word) on here wanting to be negative about Journey. There are just Journey fans who are disgruntled about the current incarnation, and they have every right to voice their opinions just like you do. There should be a balance of positive and negative, and I think both opinions should be respected.

Being critical of different aspects of the band is healthy...but why would someone come on here on a regular basis to dump on anything and everything they've done post-Perry? I don't get it. Worse, is the lies and spin about how they aren't successful or only playing GH...etc. I also accept that someone would prefer one incarnation over another - but I find it hysterical when people think the band was more successful or creative during the Augeri era than now. I like both, but this era is far more successful.

"Success is in the eyes of the beholder." Let's go with the Augeri era. No band that goes pure karaoke will ever be considered "successful" as it spends the rest of its days being karaoke. One would think with "DSB" bringing them back to the spotlight unlike others bands of which you spoke, that they would not have to package up with 80s tours. And, the killer is as you would say "one the top selling tours 2011" then only selling about 70k+ records, while the catalog sold over 700k, explain that "success" to a distributor of their new music. What they have been doing "post-Perry" is "living off past glories." "I don't get it" that seemingly they have tried (failed over/over) to wipe out Perry. Seemingly whatever they do post-Perry that has Perry's name attached is not "successful" but "living off past glories," as been doing since Perry's departure. They had to abandon thoughts of playing "Eclipse" on the 2011 tour. They "can't have their cake and eat it too."

U2's NLOTH sold over 5m worldwide and 360 tour grossed over 730m, yet it seems Bono is questioning their relevance and moving on with just legacy music..no hits.......

By the way, guess "success" would be "City of Hope Everyman's Journey" not "Don't Stop Believin, Everyman's Journey."

But we know in advance how "successful" they would be with that......
