World tour...lol...i almost fell in the floor!

It's like 14 dates, I would say pretty much the same as we have gotten the last few years. Nothing much new there...even a lot of the same exact venues...

Eye it's saying something when you and I are literally seeing eye to eye. I said the same thing. Nothing new here. JJ will perform when convenient. I was really hoping we would see at least 30-40 dates, maybe some tv appearances, and at least 1 new song we could download. That's all. I think as loyal fans we haven't asked for much.

Why just 1 new song when you can get a double-cd set? We shall be patient. 1 song out could "confuse fans"...believe me

"I Can't Hold Back" from last night.

Video quality is shaky and not good because we were far back. Audio is decent at least though.

Good crowd. Near sellout.

Frankie destroys every one of those songs with over playing and self indulgence. The bad thing is that he's playing extremely sloppy on all of this stuff. He sounds unrehearsed, and his backing vocals are terrible. On "Search Is Over" you can't even hear the keyboards and it's one of their best keyboard songs! WTH??? Frankie is playing a bunch of busy notes all over everything, and he's all you hear coming from the stage for the most part except for Jamison. His minute long solos on every song they play is also ridiculous.

Jamison would be much better off with Peterik IMHO.

Although I usually enjoy a well-crafted and even extended solo and some extra fills and licks on live shows I agree. It is just too much. Whether it is sloppy, I am not sure, because the sound on the clip is far from good. I would say his extra fills and licks sound uninspired. Instead of adding a fresh note the song those improvisations seem a little forced.

Over all I am a little shocked about the stage presence of the whole band. Of course they don't have to jump around like David Lee Roth in spandex when he was in his late twenties, but the stage acting seems very stiff and...well, 'lame'.

It looked like a solid performance to me.
Honestly I like Frankie fills. Maybe Jimi could have been less faithful to the recordings and more energy driven instead

JJ has always struck me as one of those who gets more animated the longer the show goes. The Live at Firefest dvd is a PERFECT example of this.

On an unrelated note, why the hell does Jim Thorpe, PA get all the rarer AOR shows that hardly any other part of the US gets? I remember they were even getting Toto a few years back. Unheard of.

Search Is Over sounds pretty fuckin terrible on these clips. He should have an acoustic AT MOST on that song, if not step aside altogether and let the keys/bass/vocal shine.

Beats me. Scenic little town (aka tourist trap), but really in the middle of nowhere. Must be an owner who is a fan of melodic rock.

You can hear the keys in the intro, and then thats about it. His guitar is 80 percent of the sound for the rest of the song. Jimi is REALLY struggling on this song too. And don't misinterpret my earlier statement... I'd go and see the current line-up, and I know I'd have a good time. I just wish Frankie would stop being so overpowering on these songs and trying to make it the Frankie Sullivan show. I LOVE guitar solos, but he just goes overboard, and has a hard time switching from lead, back to rhythm without adding too many fills that don't fit the songs.

I've been to that venue in Jim Thorpe, PA. It's called "Penn's Peak" and is basically on the top of a mountain. Realy nice place to see a show. Saw Patty Smyth and Scandal there.

Like I said, this isn't a reunion to me as much as it's "let's grab JJ when available and play some gigs." Very frustrating as a fan. Everyone's at fault here. At least they are still out playing music, and as long as the group is doing that, there is always hope for bigger things but I'm not counting on it.

One of the forum members on the Journey forum here on MR has a quote posted from Ann Wilson of Heart saying "If we were to stop being a recording band we would become a jukebox."

Sadly, that's pretty much what Survivor are anymore, a jukebox.
