I do like the new int'l Amazing Spider-Man trailer.

The movie is 2 hours and 17 minutes. Watching a 90 second clip is nothing.

I've heard the movie is more like 2 hours, 30 minutes.

A lot more footage has been released/leaked than a couple 90-second clips, when you add everything up. In an interview, Whedon even revealed the alien race that is Loki's army. Other tidbits have slipped out, too. I'm ignoring the hype machine till May 4.

It's 2 1/2 with all of the endless trailers that they show now...

Haha... no, it's a tactic I always use on opening day. Get there anywhere from 4:30-5:15, pay the matinee fee and skip the huge lines. Always fun to see how insane the line is when we're leaving the theater. :)

Did any of you stay for the ending credits? I heard Thanos was on the horizon. True?

Yes, from what I read he will either appear in Thor and or next Avengers.

I've been working like a dawg, 7 straight. Usually my bro and I go to these togeth with our buddies but I couldn't be present with opening weekend. I'm missing out on tons of things but I gotta get out there maybe tomorrow on my day off and catch this before it's too late. It's a must. Can't wait. Heard it's unbelievably good.

Correct!

There is apparently a 2nd bonus scene after this - a scene that was shot too late to include in the International version. I must have thought the credits were done to get up and walk out after the first one.

Yes, there is. I didn't want to mention it, because I didn't want to spoil it for anyone who has not seen the movie yet. It's a pretty funny clip.

Left the theater too soon, Rip?

There were people getting up before the mid-credits scene. I don't get that.

Back when "Daredevil" was in theaters, I was one of the few people who actually waited to see the bonus scene (learned about it from an online tip). Never missed one since, but I'm still surprised at how many people get up immediately at the end of a Marvel movie. Obviously casual fans who aren't in on the tradition.

I know, and I have to say... one review I read mentioned they felt he got shortchanged a bit (has to happen to someone with so many characters), but I still thought they did a fantastic job with him, and his scenes were quite kick-ass!

Just one more.
The gossip is since it was filmed well after the movie, Chris Evans (Capt America) had to wear a wig and cover his face since he had shaved his head and grown a beard for another role he was shooting at the time.
That's all I'll say.

Brilliant. Finally caught The Avengers today on my day off. I was so enamored by the fact that every single franchise character involved in the team got a fair amount of camera time and that played PERFECTLY well with character development, individually. Hell, there are multiple franchise's into one with the Avengers and they NAILED IT. Some directors simply can't get character development right with one character in one single film so that was impressive how tight that aspect came off.

Also loved the plot. Even though it was deep and probably kind of confusing to non-comic fans, they still made it attainable to any audience and simplified things to make it more followable. If you can accomplish that, you know it's a successful hit.

Of course, the Hulk was awesome but I loved how Bruce Banner instilled fear in his counterparts before the green was even seen. My favorite line was the "I'm always angry" statement. Nice touch because THAT is the Hulk. They made the Hulk the main attraction and killing machine to the team, something nobody got right before with the monster and he even had PERSONALITY as the Hulk. A plus.

Black Widow impressed me the most though. You knew what you were getting out of guys like Stark, Rodgers and even Thor but Scarlett Johanson kind of stole the show for me. She kicked major ass and was a very important character to the overall story and how things worked within the Avenger-realm (she also looked BANGIN' in leather. My God.) Hawk-Eye was cool, but he didn't stick out too much with such a outstanding cast but certainly had his moments. Loved it, lived up to the hype.

Now we got the Dark Knight Rises next month and I'm absolutley STOKED for it even MORE now because I believe the first MAN OF STEEL teaser will go right into TDKR. Can't wait.

TNC must be boycotting this movie for some reason. Was curious about his opinion.

TDKR opens in the second half of July, not June.

The Avengers rocked. I've seen it twice. I may see it again. I only have a few quibbles, the biggest one being why Whedon took the easy way out with the Battlefield Earth/Phantom Menace resolution to the big battle. :?

Btw, Downey is making a colossal amount of money from this. Whereas his costars are getting several million (and Jackson and ScarJo are getting double what Evans, Hemsworth, Renner and Ruffalo are), RDJ is getting, oh, a cool FIFTY million buckeroos. You read that right. After the success of the first Iron Man movie, he had his people renegotiate the terms on his payday. Cha-ching!!!!!
