2012 - Not just the summer for movies...

Dang... So far behind on the news, but found out yesterday about all the ALBUMS coming out in the next few months. Every tidbit of news was like opening another present on Christmas morning - total surprise:

HARDLINE: DANGER ZONE - featuring Thorsten Kohne and Alexander Del Vecchio of EDEN'S CURSE!!! Sounds pretty good!!!

GREAT WHITE: ELATION - first album with Terry Illous on vocals. I only just heard Terry for the first time with GW yesterday, and my verdict is still out, but I'm going to give it a shot... Won't have a choice - will see them live at M3 this weekend!

ASIA: XXX - can't find sound samples anywhere except for one promo video for "Face on the Bridge" (I like it!), but from the description, I'm stoked for this...

and of course, the biggest rock 'n' roll orgasm-inducing news of the year...

DOKKEN: BROKEN BONES - Supposedly out in June - we'll see what happens. Will be interesting to see if Don can rise to the occasion, but no doubt the songs at least will be killer. Again, will see them at M3 this weekend. :)

Not only that, but at least here in Cleveland, this is also the best year for concerts since the early 2000s. I'm going to so many shows this summer and fall, and I simply can't wait. Among the names I'll be seeing:

Todd Rundgren
Dream Theater
Rush
Hall & Oates
Frontiers
Crosby Stills & Nash
Phil Keaggy
Gin Blossoms
America

And many more... But I do wish Asia would add a Cleveland date. They were STELLAR back in August 2010 at the House of Blues (well, except for Steve Howe's choppy ass rhythm guitar playing).

And I already saw Bruce Springsteen this year (knock that one off my bucket list).

It's been a great year so far.

I'm hoping this one will be as good as "Lightning Strikes Again".

I've always liked Asia's cover art even though it's basically just tweaking the same theme over and over again (Kind of like Journey).

I'm pretty pumped about Asia, Eden's Curse's new album, and Dokken's myself. I hope Don Can hold it together on this release, but I suspect it'll sound like the last album- Great music, accompanied by Don (I got my throat stuck in the blender) Dokken. We'll see though!
The artist formerly known as Jim. :-)

Hell, I didn't even know there was one of those coming! Their website went untouched for so long, but I see they have a new singer now. The new song is pretty good, and they've got themselves a Michael Eden clone!

I heard about this on the radio about a week ago....New album, big tour, original band...he went through the speel and ended it with, "let's hear it from you Asia fans out there!" queue dead silence and the sound of crickets.

Kinda funny....but I'll still be looking forward to it, crickets or not.

Just listened to the new single on that site...Not impressed at all. First of all, any band with Steve Howe in it, even though I love his playing, should never SHOW him in a video unless it's a concert video. That's a good way to scare off fans. Secondly, the song is not that good.

I'm looking forward to it also, just not the single I've heard so far.

I didn't mind the song...thought it was OK.

Yeah, Steve Howe looks horrid.

The original "Face in the crowd" song:

I am going to see the original Asia and Asia featuring John Payne in the next few months. Like them both for very different reasons.

out of the "already released" bunch
Cold Chisel....a very nice return to form
Tyketto....ahh, not so much. Songwriting just isn't there.

and in the anticipated bunch
Gotthard...hearing really mixed reviews on this one, which is not what I want to hear. Incredibly solid in the past albums, but now we get to find out how much of that was Steve Lee.
Magnum...every new album gets closer to "classic Magnum", so hopefully this one won't dissappoint
Matchbox 20...Rob Thomas is pretty darn solid, so there shouldn't be any worries on this one--in theory
Jimi Jamison/Erik Martennson....Andrew mentioned this one. Maybe this fall??? Very interested partnership on this one.
Dave Bickler solo album...to be released this year? No idea where this one is going or what to expect.

Though it's a mean thing to say, I believe it to be true and you damn right it's funny Dave. Thanks!
