Don is correct ...except for a few of you newer fans, noone would care.

Gideon wrote:I answered; the others equivocated. They may pull their punches when it comes to SP, but I won't. It strains credulity that the voice I heard on TBF would, almost 20 years later, suddenly become the voice I heard on Escape..

Kor'n wrote::lol: I believe the "voice [you] heard on TBF" is what garnered a grammy nomination from that 47 year old so why bother with the "voice [you] heard on Escape." Anyway, Schon is into "drowning out" his singer now-a-days..

Gideon wrote:Of course, SP said not too long ago that he could work his voice up to par again if need be for a tour, so maybe I'm wrong.

Ritchie wrote:the band understands that when the moment is there and they call it a day it would be appropriate that the guy who gave them their biggest success is there to drop that final curtain....

Gideon wrote:Agreed, Cain should definitely be there.

Kor'n wrote:Of course, "Cain should definitely be there" so the fans may hear all of his penned post-Perry elusive hits that keep the band "rolling in the deep."

"Don't Stop Believin."

Monker wrote:It doesn't make any difference. Steve Perry will never tour again. Not solo, and certainly not with Journey.

You should tell Cain of your contact with Perry.

Monker wrote:Neal knows this which is why he has this ridiculous "open invitation" for him to join a tour at any time...and now it has to include Arnel. All that is really saying is, "We know you can't tour Steve...but we have Arnel anyway..nya, nya, nay :P"

"All that is really saying is" there is no future talk unless it is of the past. There would be no article if not for that "ridiculous' open invitation." If Eclipse was not such a colossal flop, Neal would not be fudging on what is "appropriate." Right before the flop, he was saying "anybody could be replaced" Guess he thought fans were endeared to their new guy. In 2009 Cain was talking Perry taking stage with Pineda, but not talking this year, but was talking last year ....

--
"As much as diehards are enjoying Pineda’s dead-on vocals, the reality is he sounds just like Perry back in the day. Naturally this leads to the question of whether Cain thinks the popular lineup will ever reunite.

“I have no idea, but he’s certainly always welcome in our camp,” Cain said. “He’s got our numbers. I tried to reach out to him last year at the World Series in San Francisco. I buzzed him a couple of times and I got crickets. I think the door is closed on that one. We’re totally open to anything. He’s a big part of the alumni of this band. He helped design the early sound of this band, so there’s a deep respect built for him in our camp. We wish him well and if ever he wanted to come and sing, man, he could come anytime.” 8/1/2011

Guess they have to talk what is relevant or gets them pub. Guess there's nothing like a colossal flop to zip up errant lips.

Monker wrote:So, go ahead people, make all the lame arguments you want in Steve absence. He isn't comeing back to Journey, Journey neither wants nor needs him...and he isn't touring solo. You are in fact lucky to even get some background vocals on other people's songs...and even luckier if he releases a solo album, which I do not think will happen.

You should not speak of your "arguments" in such a manner. :o That Eclipse assured that there is always an "open invitation" for Perry, w/o distractions. They are creatively unconscious (that anyway) with AP as they remember and talk of that grammy nomination in '96. Why trouble with release of solo, when "AWYWI" is playing all over tv with the upcoming movie.

Just like 'Eclipse.'

Monker wrote:So, not an eclipse that only blocks out the sun for a few minutes. More like a ancient red giant star that had it's time as significant, maybe even bringing life to some planet. "Fading" like an "Eclipse" that's "done forever." Yeah, relevant stars that are not a Journey.

Perry's been gone since 1996, yet Huffington's Tribeca closing articles about Journey were......

"Journey explains Separate Ways video" And, Neal tells why SP wrote 'Oh Sherrie' for Sherrie. And second article, of course is "Journey reuniting with Steve Perry." With the colossal flop of 'Eclipse,' guess they have to talk what is relevant that has nothing to do with the "new' Journey.

But so is Monker...

Perry is done with Journey

Some of you stalwarts are funny and entertaining. Steve Perry and Journey are Dinosaur bones and it will never be resurrected.

"Some of you stalwarts are funny and entertaining." Fixed the 'Eclipse' for you.

Guess Perry has the best of both worlds - "Home, it's a feeling you can't explain, you miss it, but you become callous to it." (1981) Thanks to Sopranos, Glee, recently The Voice, AI, the music he helped create seems to "go on and on" w/o his hogging the road trying to be in the spotlight, guess not for Perry. Guess, the retired Perry is "living off past glories" just like the 'dinosaur'[s] aka "aged rockers showing off kid wonder they got from the internet." (10/21/11)

If I'm Perry I stay retired...

Only a HOF induction would bring me out...

Once Journey calls it a day.. all the reunion nonsense will die... as will most of the pressure (if there ever was much) on Perry to release new solo stuff.

You only have to take one look at Neal's current love life to see why Steve Perry hasn't returned. The guy doesn't give a shit about Perry and would screw him over in a heartbeat if it meant helping himself in some way.
