Postby SunshineTwilight » Wed May 30, 2012 6:41 pm

Jeff will probably shoot me for spilling the beans, but this set list was posted on the Queen Extravaganza Facebook page, along with who sings on them. If I turn up missing after the 8th, you'll know what happened! LOL :P

One thing that needs to be said is that you need to see the show before critiquing it based on Yourspacetube vids. I've done three and all were 'sell out' and the audience reactions say it all.

I was sceptical when Jeff was first approached, wasn't sure about the concept or the performers and didn't want it to become a live karaoke tribute - but it so isn't a tribute nor is it karaoke. This is nine great performers paying homage to a great band and their oeuvre and not doing it as a tribute band would. To be honest there are a couple of bits of tape to kick of the show and on one or two songs but 99.99% of the show is live and it rocks.

Now I have seen it I want it to come to Europe - it beats the crap out of tribute bands.

If it has been performed already why would he care? You are too nice. All you just did was make it more interesting for Jeff's fans.

Sir Soto does that song such service.
I like his versions better than Mr Mercury. :D

I'm so glad they haven't made this a 'greatest hits' only show. There's some real gems in the setlist. In the Lap of the Gods? - yeah! And this - Yyan on You Take My Breath Away:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voaGlKIWpvQ

Nice vocals by all on that one.

Interesting there is no 'Show Must Go On' - wonder if they'll add that one.

TSMGO was in the first show at Quebec, but there is a divide between the true 'die-hard' fans and those who are going because it has the name 'Queen' and are merely interested for the latter GH will be the 'be all and end all', for the former we want to hear stuff that isn't normally done live.

Its interesting too when you get to see behind the facade and to get to hear some of the rationale. I'd prefer this to be a 'best bits' rather than 'greatest hits'.

One fascinating aspect is the age range of the band - 18 through late 40s - and how they combine to make a single unit that works. Wherever I go I tell people that this isn't a tribute band more a legacy band with some of the best performers around.

Honestly, Martel has sounded better than most of the clips I've heard with the real Freddie singing those songs.

wow.... just fucking wow...

Kille Queen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcZGO8UP ... ure=relmfu

Love Of My Life (this is just haunting): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ga1roAS ... ure=relmfu

If Martel doesn't wind up fronting Queen... or at least recording new material with them... it would be a crime...

i'd like to hear Martel on this one...actually i'd like to hear him on all of them if they could do this "ala Danger Danger Cockroach" style to hear the difference.

Whilst I don't condone the videoing of gigs I have pulled together just about all the QE footage thus far and there is only one track conspicuous by its absence - 'A Kind Of Magic' and I'd love to have that if any daring soul shoots it. The only other track that was dropped is 'The Show Must Go On', performed in Quebec but I don't think since then.

I will keep scanning you tube but if anyone knows of footage of these two, post it here please.

Missing the show already - it just has to come to Europe please.

Why not?

It should have had a smiley in it. However, what I dislike is the selling of bootlegs, video or audio.

The Show Must Go On (Detroit) - not the best but still pretty damn good:

One I'd love to hear is '39 - bet the harmonies from all those voices would be great on that.
