It's obvious that "facts" our simply suggested depending on who is writing the article. There has to be a criteria for every category of status whether it be temporary, fill-in, permanent (with royalties), etc.
Personally I think people are just spending way too much time and energy crying over spilt milk and/or getting involved in someone else’s business with a bias based on personal preferences and favoritism.
One thing for certain and I guarantee it, if AP is ever booted from the band regardless of the reasons or speculations, you will not see any posts by me bitching, pointing fingers, creating scapegoats, crying over it, etc. etc. etc.

Obviously there are those out there who believe JSS was on temporary assignment with the band. After reading that, I wanted to know so I looked into it and didn't see that JSS apears in the official listings as "past band members".
These items your posting for me, these are articles written in the past. I'm looking for articles that are current writings about the past. I'll review what you've posted and see if any of them match the criteria I'm asking about. I'm looking for current articles discussing the official past of the band. Does the official Journey site have an official listing of who past members of the band are? If so I'll be happy to look at that to see if the person who mentioned JSS as a "stand-in" a number of posts back on this thread, is an accurate statement.
Can you not see the picture above your post from Journey's official site in 2006? Your problem is you are another one of those Johnny come lately's who didn't give a hoot about the band until they hired the little brown brother. Like many other new ethnic fans of the band, your knowledge of What Journey was before that point is nonexistent.

Depends on how old you are? If your currently a teen, then perhaps to them..... no, since teens weren't alive when SP was in the band and they really couldn't care less what happened with the band before they were alive.....in most cases.

I think its more like our resources are two different places.

What if they refer to him as a "fill in" for the next singer, if there is one? I can't believe you're not willing to take the word of the band's own official website that JSS was made the lead singer in 12/06...

So what do you think the reason for the bio jumping like that is?

his friends love Journey and they actually know who Steve Perry is if you ask them who he is they will say he is singer of Journey..you know they sang DSB...actually they have less of an idea who AP or the other full in of the moment are.

*SA never lipped - Neal didn't have him in his earpiece so he didn't know what the hell everyone was blathering about...
*SA only used a mic that was an exact replica - to scale - of Neal's afro in the mid-to-late 70's because he liked how it tickled his adam's apple and eyebrows...
Come on people, I'm sure there's many more tall tales where those came from, just like the "JSS was never officially named lead singer of Journey" story. Whatcha got?
On a somewhat related note, did anyone notice the layout of the picture that was posted with the press release that included JSS? See how everyone is placed - with Jeff (well over 6' tall) down below the rest of the band, and everyone else placed so that Neal looks to be the tallest guy in the picture. I wonder if that gives credibility to Frank's contention of Neal's "napoleanic complex"...? Ewwww.

They're assholes.

You missed where I clearly said "at the end of the day." I'm well aware that they named him the lead singer because even though I liked JSS from the get-go, turned around, thought about it & changed my mind, I was accepting of the fact he was going to be my lead singer of Journey and I personally PM'ed Soto around that time saying no hard feelings and how I am totally excited about what the future holds. He never got back to me and a week later, he was ousted. That said, he was a stand-in because they simply never moved FORWARD from the time they announced him. Technically, since he WAS named, I guess you can throw his name in there but in reality, to the band, he was nothing but a stand-in who saved their tour and that's what I'll always believe because they never moved on with Soto to where he could of officially put his fingerprints on being the official lead singer (a Soto-led album.) It never happened.
Around that time period, I worked for my brother, T-Time & we officially were the sole provider for Neal's t-shirts for Journey's website (Neal's Afro Society.) I stood there and witnessed my brother talk to Steve Toomey (who we met in Vegas) to where he told us that Soto ended up being ousted because of personality issues. This was more than one conversation over the telephone. I'm sure there's more to the story and noone will truly know why and how it happened (even JSS is probably still confused) but Toomey told us it was character issues. Take it with a grain of salt but it wasn't because they didn't think he could hack it. He clearly could but they simply changed their mind in mid-sentence.

I'm LMAO, as this thread is nothing about what it started about.

In reality, all that matters is that "at the end of the day" on 12/19/06 Jeff Scott Soto was officially the lead singer of my favorite band (and dammit yes, they're still my favorite of all time - even though I'm not digging what they're doing now). Also, I unfortunately think some of the other stuff you've pointed out is true too. They used him, not only to get them through that tour, but also to smooth the waters surrounding the controversy of tapegate. I think it's conceivable that they used his relationship with Dean to get Dean to lay off ripping them, and also to connect with the fans as he does so well. Then they dumped him, perhaps as Dan and others have said because of his relationship with Dean once those waters were calmed. IDK. I utterly hate that I've lost so much respect for this band that meant so much to me in my youth.
